Hello all!
My latest project is a stopping 317 from Peterborough to The Cross but the HSTs and 225s overtaking me are quickly caught up. Is there a way of speeding up the AI traffic at all? I have set the performance to 100 but still they seem too slow.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
As for the other WIP (15:35 KX-York in BR Blue days) the same problem exists, there simply is no point if the AI traffic does not overtake you.
HELP!!! Faster AI traffic?

Make sure the start point for the AI traffic is not in a restricted speed area. If you start a freight service, for instance, in a siding at 15mph it keeps going at that speed until it reaches the next speed limit sign - which might be miles ahead. If you start on a slow line and then cross to a fast line, often the ai service keeps the slow line speed.
Ive found that AI services tend to wait for you to catch up before speeding away again. Another MSTS bug? I also wrote a mideast activity where an hst on the 125mph line would not overtake a freight at 75mph on the slow line, it just followed exactly one coach length behind. Another MSTS bug?

You can speed up AI traffic simply by modifying the Con file. So you can actually get the AI train running at it's maximum speed.
But note when you do do this, its better to create a new consist file, cause editing an existing one will affect other acts.
And this is formula for it.
Speed in mph divided by 0.6 (kph) multiplied by 1000 (meters) divided by 60 (minutes) divided by 60 (Seconds) divided by Expected Performance (as in efficiency, 0.75 not 75.0!).

I want some repairs doing to my cooker as it backfired and burnt my knob off.

The next number after the red circle which you change is for accelaration, there should be no need to change this as there normally pretty good.

Or, to put it another simpler way, if the max speed you want is 100mph, your consist file entry needs to be 162, assuming efficiency settings set to 75 in AE. ie multiply by desired speed by 1.62.
If you look at your consist file speed entry and divide by 1.62 this will tell you the max speed the AI consist will run at.
Don't forget if you start your AI off in a speed limited area it will never reach its maximum speed.
