Manual Points

After some positive feedback on the ESSO activities for Dorset Coast, thinking on the next activity. I had thought about another shunting activity probably for NWE2. This time I wanted the user to have the choice of the route and order of picking up with wagons, sort of setting a puzzle to be solved.
Problem: In explore mode the points could be set manually ("G" and "SFT-G"), in activity mode, they we fixed whether on or off the defined path.
The question: Is it possible to have manual points in an activity and if so how?

This sort of activity was included in the Skipton Carlisle Route - if you have this add-on, you could take a look at how they did it.
It was a great activity too so well worth repeating in another setting.
Cheers

The answer is that if they were set as manual operation when the route was built, as opposed to automatic, then you can use the switching method for shunting. I believe all the points on NWE2 were manual.
In an activity all you have to do is path the first movement into your siding for collection, add a reverse point and then continue the route to its end. Place your static wagons where you want them and in the briefing say what is to be picked up in what order.
Once the reverse point is tripped the onward route will be set and can be taken when your shunt is completed. All the intervening movements and point changes can be done manually using the G and Shift G keys and the switching guide.
Ive used this lots of times, most recently on the MT Springfield CD.

Thanks for the info, when I get chance to get back into Activity Editor, etc. I will look into this. I don't think I included a reverse point when I first tried this.

Just thought I would update as I have managed a little experimentation on the four routes I currently have installed:
Auto points (i.e. no G): NWE2 and TM3.2
Manual points (i.e. G): Dorset Coast and Lyme Regis
Also discovered that you don't need the reversing point in the basic path.
Thought people would like to know.
I think the puzzle activity will be developed in Lyme Regis, probably the Axminster yard, using lots of PO Wagons. Any one know what a suitable small diesel shunter would be for this area? I don't want to use an 08.

Hi
I doubt diesel shunters would have ever shunted the yard there, however 'if you must'

I suppose an 03 would be the right kinda size.
