Well i like passenger, freight and rescue activities pretty much equally. But there mustn't be too many stops. I like longish runs of 30 minutes or so, or a long run then a few short stopper sections and maybe another long run. Like King 125 it needs to feature a selection of signal cautions and checks with complete stops, but not too many as after a while it gets frustrating. A tight central section timing is good with recovery time in the final section so you can get behind but can also fight to recover time.

I also like to feature trains you have to overtake and make timings fairly critical, so if you miss your slot you get held.

Freight especially with a pair of 37's doing what should be a 66. Passenger aslong as it's loco hauled. Shunting if its going to last for hours and theres plenty to see.

Prefer freight acts but anything that is HARD is good - to easy looses its interest quickly - Fright trains do have timetables so please act writers include some timing points to add to the challenge :) :D

Passenger and Freight... but I like working to a real time table, or trying to. (Thrashing little engines up big hills can be fun, but then so can going fast in big engines.)
