Morning Mail Activity for Thames Mersey Steam Era

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

I had this problem a few times. It didn't happen with the original consist and was okay if I changed only the loco. However, if I changed the wagons, I would get the moving start with no control and an eventual derailment. Once it started for me without the movement but I had two locos, one embedded about half way down the other.

I'll remove that duplicate 8:00 service and re-upload the revised activity.

I've just uploaded version 1.2 with the duplicate traffic at the beginning removed. It's waiting for approval.

And a Happy New Year to all (from the other side of midnight).

The moral of this story - at least from my point of view - is that if you crib someone elses work ( as i did with the AI traffic pattern ) you must still double check every service to make sure there are no conflicts. :)

Ive learned an important lesson and will check closer in future. Sorry to those of you who have problems and I hope you can now resolve them and go on to drive to Liverpool. :)

Morning Mail Revised

Post by 37413 »

Hi Guys.
A happy new year to all :D Yesterday I noticed the revised version on the site so I thought what the hell, download it and have another run as I enjoyed the last one. It was a nightmare trying to put all the stock back into position through Activity Analizer nearly 3 hours work. Time ran out on me as I had to go away to a Hogmanay bash. Thought this morning I would set everything up for a run later on today, so my first thought was run it through Editor & Tools and the services needed to be updated. No problem with that as I was expecting that. Now here is the stumbling block.
common.sound\2cyl_generic\2c-60a-engpas99.sms is required is there such a file as I cannot find it.

Alan.

Good Morning and a happy new year to one & all

I have Bob Latimers version, changed the engine& tender OK
But system does not want to find the coaches npx/npx2(Activity Analysis) which I asume are on the Thames Mersey CD
No mention of them on the readme
Changed them to NPV Blue just to see if it worked and yes it did
Then tried to change to a different wagon but now it will not start at all
Just shows a picture of the station roof and a bit of smoke but thats it, then says it has deraled
Reinstalled activity - reinstalled Thames Mersey stock and up pops the npx etc in ACtivity Anaalysis.
(Everything is unstored from Trainstore)
Any ideas

Hi Manty

The derailment at start has been traced to the morning mail service which starts at 08:00 the same time as the player service. Bob has fixed this in his latest version, but you could double check the AI traffic file in activity editor and make sure its gone :)

All the other stock was on the CD version (including 3 different npv/npx vans) so if you have the CD version it should be ok. If you are using the downloaded version i dont know where to start looking im afraid. In my trainset folder its under UK_BR_NPV_Newspapers. Its by Ian Jenkins so you might find it by doing a search :)

Alan - I cant help im afraid. Maybe Bob Latimer will be able to when he catches up on this thread :)

Manty,

The npx file is this one from Ian Jenkins:

Alan, the file common.sound\2cyl_generic\2c-60a-engpas99.sms that you refer to was definitely not included on the Thames-Mersey CD, but I think that its a sound file from one of Dave Bran/Brian Walker's latest Duchess uploads. Try the following file:

Just caught up with this thread (early Sunday morning here).

Looks like the collective wisdom has managed to sort all of the issues.

The NPX/NLX vans were listed in the stock list and Dave has given the link to those.

That sound set did come with the Duchess so the links provided by Dave and Ian should sort that one.

Version 1.2 has the duplicate 8:00 service removed so that should fix the immediate crash problem.

Hope that gets everyone up and running. It really is a good activity, all the credit going to Laurie. I just made some minor tweaks (and caused a few more headaches!)

Dave
Thanks for the ID9903 NPX/NLX etc This appears to have solved my problem (fingers crossed)
Now I seem to be able to change the loco and away we go, as the correct wagons are all in place.
So far made it past Watford - have to leave it there for now.

Only query I have is picking up water, pressed Y at the 1st trough but it didn't appear to do anything. Mind you this is the first time since having MSTS (2yrs +) that I have tried to pick up water, any advice ?
Otherwise just have to see how far I get.
I am using a BA BR BLack5

Thanks again for the help folks, after 2-3 hours trying to sort it out was beginning to think I had got it all wrong. Onwards & Upwards.
Thames Mersey is a great route
Best regards

Manty :D :D

PS An interesting start to the New Year!

I cant comment if you've changed stock since i dont know how that operates and whether the eng file allows for a trough pickup or not. It works fine on the stock i wrote the activity for, by pressing Y.

Maybe try a different loco :)

Problem solved - I had broken the scoop the first time and hadn't realised
(Amateur steam drivers or should that be firemen)
Tried it again and hey presto a tender full of water
Now to head north again
Thanks for your assistance

Laurie,

Here I am again

Absolutely excellent activity, got as far as the last single yellow + 15mph speed limit with L. L. St, in my sight and then everything freezes and the dreaded S/DS to uncle bill. 7% coal left and no uncoupling anywhere, even took a chance on MP 153 without any problems and would have been on time.

I seem to remember something when the route was updated to V 3.0 about the same problem on getting into L. L. St. but I can't remember what it was.

EDIT: Patched to V 3.2 and it was the tsection.dat file that was the original problem and I have the one that came with patch 3.2 installed on TM.

Any suggestions,

Regards

Alan
