Mystery Trip activity probs
Hey, i don't know if im the only one with this prob, but after downloading all the stock, i went to unpackage the activity and it said something on the lines "this activity is for the Thames-Mersey(electric era) route only" and then basically fails to unpack. umm...help?
From memory I believe that there were two versions of Thames Mersey - an electrified version and a non electrified version. Obviously the activity is for one and you have the other
I think the version was changeable by running a batch file - but i dont have it so im only speaking from memory and could be wrong

Yep...that's correct! If you look in your [trainsim]/Routes/Mersey folder, you should find a couple of ".bat" files. One is called "Installsteam.bat" the other is called "Installmodern.bat". That's the one you need! Just double-click it to run. To go back to the Steam version, just do the same again, but run the "Installsteam.bat" file.I think the version was changeable by running a batch file
You may find other .bat files in there. Just ignore them, as they are left over from the original Mersey install (if you got it right!).
Hope this helps

it's not that, im pretty sure this is something to do with the folder name, not the actual era of the route (because i've always ran the electrified version anyways
) If i was to change the folder name from Mersey to what it needs to be for it to work...will it stop any other activities from working?

Have you got your Thames-Mersey route installed in the "default" location?
I would imagine that when you try to unpack the activity, it will search for the Route on C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\ROUTES\Mersey (that's the default path)
If you installed your TS in a different location, it will not automatically find it!
(btw....I'm certainly no expert, but I DO have a nicely-working T-M3 installation, with all released Activities installed)
Hope this helps!

Follow on:
I have just unzipped and installed this Activity without problem on my setup! The only thing I saw, which is common anyway, is that the installation wanted to overwrite a few paths. Nothing about my Route installation!
I gotta go off to download a bit more stock now, as this act does use quite a lot that I havn't already got!
Good Luck

Well...according to the screenie, the activity unpacker is looking for the route, but can't find it! While you were installing the Route, did you follow through the full, correct order for installing? (It looks like you did, from what you said earlier and in other threads, but?).
Have you renamed the route folder or anything maybe? (the route should be "Mersey" in your TS Routes folder. Have you run the Route itself through RouteRiter, just to ensure that everything's OK?
Final question: Have you d/loaded any other Acts for the Route which work OK?
As I said in my earlier post, I have today installed this Act on my system with NO problems. In fact, I've just started off playing the Act (looks pretty good so far!)
If all else fails, and it still won't install.....it may be that there IS a problem with your Route installation. It would then probably be easiest for you to delete the Route folder and reinstall the whole thing! It doesn't take too long, if you still have ALL the zips for the job (Mersey v1, Mersey v2, and Mersey v3....plus patches 3.1 & 3.2). If you DO need to reinstall, be sure to read all the instructions FULLY, as it can be easy to miss the odd bit, or do something in the wrong order!
Please don't hesitate to get back to me if you're still having probs, and I'll do all I can to help you!

thanks very much im really appreciating the effort!
I did have trouble with this route before, but i've now fixed all those errors, and can run activities happily on it (london-manchester, brum-limestreet etc etc). i haven't changed any file/folder names on this, or the installation directories, im very confused by this! im gonna try just renaming the route, but, will this stop other activities from working?
i've ran it through routeriter and the whole route checked out fine (it didn't before i fixed it lol). i don't really want to reinstall it again, as i've already done this 3 times and i don't really want to do it again just incase it stops the route working again! im really clueless on this one, which is frustrating as the activity looks awesome!

.....it might just be worth you running the "Installmodern.bat" file again (in the root Mersey folder). It doesn't matter how many times you run this, but you know how funny MSTS can be!! ItCAN occasionally get it right by running again!
I must admit that it does sound weird, 'cos the act unpacker definitely seems to not be able to "finf" your Route installation
I don't mind trying to help you out, mate! I think this is a brilliant Route, and I was originally on the Activity building "team" for it, but had to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances!
Could you post a screenie of your Windows Explorer "tree", opened up to show the location of your Routes?? or copy/paste the path shown when you click "properties" on the Route? That may help find out what's up!
Maybe you could try emailing (or PM'ing) David Corfield ( ccsdc@ccsuk.com), as he built the Route!
If anyone else reading this has any ideas, please feel free to add your suggestions!
Keep going, you'll get there in the end....and it IS a super Act!!

Just picked up this thread now. It looks from the screenie as if the activity unpacker is looking to unpack in the correct place. It should actually make no difference which version (Steam/Modern) the activity was made under and which version it is being unpacked in as the Uid is Mersey in both cases.
I havent downloaded this activity yet, but Dave could you try repacking it in your AE and emailing it to y2flexy to see if that works for him? I will try and have a look at it this evening.
