NWE2 Activity Feedback

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Terry, please stop...this much laughter in one evening isn't good for me! (sorry everyone, private joke - and to make it even funnier, if you see TC doing a demo of NWE2 at UKTS live, ask him to show you the activity with the class 117 DMU).

Dave, this is the sound of my head as it makes violent contact with the table! You wouldn't believe the strange results I got when writing that activity on that flippin' bank...see fitto's comment about not being able to get up the bank at all without deleting wagons.

I have absolutely no idea why it won't give you the 'away' from the siding at Burn Naze as there is no AI traffic on that stretch. You've obviously tried tabbing 'cos Terry's dulcet tones have told you to 'hold it there please'...have you tried the MSTS shuffle?

It's ages, probably two months, since I've run it and I can't remember if 1310 is on time, astonishingly late or what. However I do recall that I set up a shunter AI at Salwick to hapen on the way back to Preston if you're on time, so I'll go into AE and check it out.

PS good tip for this activity: when you let go of the banker at the top of the bank, do it on the fly whilst looking back from the guards van in '5' view - very evocative...
Hi Paul, All,

Bank, what Bank??? 8) I really did not have any problem with the Bank, but then I am a bit brutal with steam locos, I'd have been a "Coal Eater" if I'd been there for real.........and Water too, I only just made it to the troughs.

When I let go of the banker, it disappeared so fast he must have been already in back gear.......

Re: being held at Burn Naze siding, I'm still there, send sandwiches and a change of clothes please............ :o ...........Oh and a track gang to repair the worn away rail I'm shuffling on...............

This activity never seems to amaze me.... just run it again... no problems with the signal at Burn Naze, but this time flew up the bank at 45mph! :-?

garston 8f consist

Post by fitto »

The only one to report (e.g. the only one I don't think was my total incompetence!!) was the 8F coal to Fleetwood one........got up the Bank no problem, but quite a bit further on, trundling along a straight and fairly level 70 mph section at about 30 mph, it pulled the coupling failure trick on me

Is this caused by a mix of brake types in the consist?

I've run this activity more times than I can care to remember, but I've never had a coupler break. Can you say where exactly in the route you got the problem, and were you crossing any points at the time? Whatever it is, I don't think that it's a brake incompatability problem.

You're probably aware that there is a bug in MSTS whereby if a train goes for a long time without passing over points you can get a 'spontaneous' coupling break. There's a utility in Route-Riter to fix the coupling break values and maybe you might try this.

Hope that helps
