Weaste to Preston tanks for NWE2

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Weaste to Preston tanks for NWE2

Post by TractorBasher »

Has anyone tried this activity yet? I've formed my train in the sidings at Weate but I can't get it moving up the branch to the main line. As soon as I increase the power handle by a notch, the amps go off the scale, which is OK at first, but once coupled up to the full train, it won't move. Not even sanding helps. Anyone else had this problem? How can I overcome it?

That activity took a lot of fine-tuning during development, and I think required some stock tweaking. If is possible that one such tweak didn't make the final cut - I will have to check, and if necessary create a patch.

Sounds like different brake systems on loco/stock...

There was a brake incompatability between the loco used in the activity and the bitumen tankers. I seem to remember that the brakes on the tankers were changed to match those of the loco's (again from memory, to 'air_single_pipe') and that there was (should have been!) an amended .wag file in the bitumen tankers folder on the CD to sort this.

well i'm sure I remember copying the updated file over from my pc that does email etc. to the Trainsim development PC. However it didn't make it to the final cut for some reason.

Tractorbasher, pm me with an email address (your forum one is blank) and I'll send you a revised file to try - if it works as is I will upload to ukts.

As Terry and Alan says, you have to make sure that the loco and wagons have the same braking - if you've changed the brakes, or not used the altered .wag file, then the consist will stick like glue.

If the brakes are okay then you should have no bother working up to the full 30 mph on the bank up to Eccles - what a shame about the red at the top!

If you're struggling, post again.

Activity didn't work. It doesn't appear when I load Train Simulator.

If someone can tell me what bit to edit, I'll give that a try. Not confident on altering brakes and things yet, although I'm sure it's as simple as changing cabview and sounds once you know how.

In this case you don't want to change the brakes, as an alternative wagon is provided with the brakes fixed already. You just need to change the activity to use the new wagon. I will take another look at this.

you have another email - this time I packed the whole thing, in case the ACT file is out of step with the rest.

If anyone else would like to try it please post here or send a PM

Works a treat now. No dragging brakes. :D

Got stuck on the junction at Preston though 'cause I was going too slow. Couldn't get going, so I reversed to take a run at it and found a train had sneaked up behind me and when I went forward again the points had reset and I was snookered!
