How were the Class 333 EMUs delivered ???

How were the Class 333 EMUs delivered ???

Post by spikeyorks »

Another activity idea (or at least a loose consist). When these first appeared in Airedale were they delivered (ie 2 or 3 units at a time behind a loco) or did they simply run up to West Yorkshire under their own power ???

Equally how were the units they replaced removed ?

Any comments and any piccies appreciated.

Probably the same way as the 332's were delivered in which I don't know.

They were made in Spain.

They were hauled up one at a time from the Channel Tunnel to Wakefield Europort - thats a rail terminal not a sea one

Thanks

How likely was this ?

1) I have a choice of this, a EWS37, a petroleum Cl47 or a coal Cl56. Which do you think most suitable out of that list (trying to keep the downloads down).

2) Would there have been a barrier wagon between the EMU and the loco and if so what ? (any UKTS files nos appreciated)

Any help greatly appreciated as always.

Well the way they bring the desiros in is within a consist of a EWS 66 couple of container flats with a container on and then four Italian FS Cargowaggons.

Also they move the 377s from Lovers Walk Brighton to Marchwood with a 66 and two EWS QSA Barrier wagons

I have the above Barrier wagon ready to upload when i can correct the other two included with it

Also EWS move the 508s to Birkenhead using 2 x grey MK1 Barriers and a 67
and they used a Porterbrook Barrier coach to move a networker to Eastleigh from wembley using a 67

Take ya Pick

BTW all the 67 movements may have been 47s before they got rid??

Thanks for that Champy....nice snippets of info there.

Got another issue now though. I've decided that as the new EMU's are coming in then maybe there would be some old ones being scrapped. So am using the new Cl308 and scrapping it !!!

However as you can see the pantograph is permanently up. Any ideas how I can change this ?

Also the EMU's seem to be quite heavy to drag. Are there any modifications that I could make to the files to make them easier to pull ?

Thanks as always.

You would need to alter the engine files (well create altered versions).
I think that if you made it a diesel it might keep the panto down.
As for trouble pulling you might find that the break types are not the same as the loco you are using. Maybe you could just create complete set of new wag files for each coach.

333s

Post by TractorBasher »

As I recall, the 333s were barriered with a Porterbrook coach at each end and were hauled up to Wakefield by Railfreight Distribution class 47s. Of the four options, I think the EWS 37 would perhaps be best, although 1 class 47 download will hardly be crippling.

How about this then ?

I can't find a Porterbrook barrier coach (although I have seen one in someone else's screenshot). Where would I get one of those from ? The EWS barriers look OK though.

With regards to changing the Cl308 to a diesel to see if the pantograph goes down....How do I do that ???

As always any help greatly appreciated.

The Porterbrook wagon was made by Dale (basildd), I think, but it never got uploaded.

Your best bet for getting a dead 308 is to contact the authors- they'd need to create a version of the shape file where the pantograph doesn't animate.

Hi

That route is the KVWR as it says Queensbury on the timetable.

I think this route (Queensbury to Keighley) is much more interesting than the actual KWVR proper. I'm still persevering with my modern day activity pack but it is doing my head in testing and tweaking a total of 6 activities (not including the emu one this thread is about). And in doing this posting I have just discovered I've lost a number of my screenies !!!

The route is worth buying. The only issue I've found so far is that you need to copy across 3 files to get the temporary speed restrictions to work.
