No engine smoke on Cannock Chase

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

No engine smoke on Cannock Chase

Post by judith »

I am sure I had smoke and steam previously, but the Cannock Chase route does not have any on player or AI engines.

The default Settle route is fine. Could I have erased or corrupted a file somewhere?

Try reducing the number of loose consists in the activity.

Yes, I re-wrote the activity again and with no loose consists, it was fine. But after adding the final consists, the smoke disappeared. So I'll try that.

Thanks.

By the way, is there part of a file that can be edited to overcome this?

I had the same problem writing an activity fo cannock chase route. I also lost the sounds from some AI trains as well. Before I had chance to try and find what the problem was I upgraded my pc and installed win2000 instead of win98se. When I re-installed msts and the activities the problem went away. How much ram have you got?

I've got 384Mg RAM, Athon XP2000, GE Force Ti 4800 128Mg RAM.

Oh! and Windows ME.

I haven't lost the sound but it's nice to know someone else has had a problem.

Thanks Jim,

I think that your amount of memory may be giving you problems. I am just about to upload a new activity that has a huge number of AI and stationary trains in it . Even with may new pc I am still loosing some AI sounds and my frame rate has dropped to 8fps in places. The lowest fps I get with other activites is 20!
