Freight on the Woodhead for the Woodhead Route Version 2.2
Been playing around with this activity for some time now and thought I had better put it up for others to try before Steve gets completely carried away and totally rewrites the Woodhead Route!!!
This is a freight activity involving a good deal of shunting on a busy day on the Woodhead Route, and requires a great deal of stock.
It is a bit more demanding than driving from A to B with a few station stops.
You will need all your concentration and driving skills.
You will still need a reasonably powerful PC but the frame rates are a bit better than my last activity
THE GOOD NEWS IS:-
If you already have my Piccadilly to Sheffield Victoria activity for the Woodhead Route Ver2.2
You do not have to download any further stock
If you haven’t got the above activity then-
All the stock can be found in the UK Train Sim Download section and I have listed all the File Id’s, the description and the relevant authors
If you are missing any or all the stock then please go to my activity mentioned above.
File ID 5232
Below the description of the activity you will find thumbnails of all the stock used in that activity. Just click on the thumbnail to download any or all the items needed

Thanks for uploading this. A word to Activity Writers about the DEM'ed Woodhead route - since there will not be one single piece of original track from V1.1/V2.2 in this new one (V3.0) , sadly ALL activities will be incompatible...
...but then you'd probably never meet any of the activity timings on the new route anyway due to the inclines I've been laying.

Hi Rossspinemaligna wrote:Downloaded the activity, unzipped to temp folder, copied activity to MSTS Utils but when dragged on to TSUnpack get "Failed to open package" message.
Where have I gone wrong? Assistance required please.

There can be a problem with unpacking activities in Microsoft Train Sim- ulator.
Alan Salmon posted a fix for this problem
Download file Id 409
Hopefully this will solve your problem

Just tested dragging apk file onto tsunpack on my machine and all worked fine.spinemaligna wrote:I had already tried the fix but got the message saying bug was already fixed. Still not working. Doh
If tsunpack is fixed you should be able to just double click the file in the temporary folder without dragging it onto tsunpack and the activity should unpack
If you can open other apk files ok, then I don’t know what to suggest
Anybody got any ideas?

My problem is that the loco starts off the wrong way round(ie I go forwards at the start, not in reverse). This means you end up in Godley station sidings trying to pull about 10 wagons with the front coupler. Even with the throttle at 100%, the train won't move. Anyone know how to either a)turn the loco round, or b) solve the front coupler problem?

Have you made a change to the loco used?sddsddean wrote:My problem is that the loco starts off the wrong way round(ie I go forwards at the start, not in reverse). I tried the activity last night.
I assumed when I started out I was in the front cab, so I followed the intructions and put it in reverse and ran into a train coming up from behind me.
I started again, went forwards this time, followed the arrows and picked up a rake of wagons in the siding by the station. I then followed the arrows again and ended up running into another train just after passing through the station going forward.
I'll gve it another go and see what happens.
