Route-Riter Conflicts

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Route-Riter Conflicts

Post by terrycunliffe »

I am trying to Beta test an activity (not yet publically available).. MSTS crashes as I try to load it. I have run RR activity check (and MSTS Activity Analyser), which both tell me all is Hunky-Dory. However, when I run RR "Check Rolling Stock" it reports that every piece of stock for that particular activity as 'missing'
Anyone come across this before, and any clues as to what may be wrong?
Regards,
Terry

 !

It's my activity, if anyone else would like me to blow apart their MSTS installation I'll be happy to oblige! Terry is not just a star route builder but a very patient activity tester into the bargain.

If that is a request for someone else's help in testing (?) send it along!

Sounds like you're using Trainstore and the .eng files are in your store folder. Unstore everything and recheck with RR - then selectively store routes not in use if your stock has turned up :)

Alas, I'm not using trainstore :( ... I'm now thinking along the lines of a corrupt path somewhere... will check out tonight.

No, but I am - so did I corrupt the .apk by having some stock in Train Store? But if so, wouldn't the stored stock be unavailable to me in the AE anyway? And if so, how come other people have been able to open the file? I'm very confused...

Terry, when I get home from lovely Darlington tomorrow night I'll unstore everything and send you yet another version of the file. This is turning out to be quite a marathon!

Nothing against R-Riter but I have been using Route Control Lite for almost 2 years without difficulty. It's only bug is that it reports problems when trailing spaces are used before the period in consist or service files and the files work properly. A good test is to run it against the Cajon Pass where several files have this format. Otherwise, it identifies problems accurately.

Route Control Lite is free from http://www.howintheworld.com

I am just about finishing a heavy freight activity for NWE, and like other chaps when I check this activity on Route Riter I also find that every piece of stock I am using is missing. Like others i also checked it on Activity analizer and everything is OK. I dont use train store as I feel I have enough. Route Riter is not 100% at present when it tells me that I dont have any Wag or Eng files for my activity. The version of Route Riter i am using is the very latest V4246 which has only been uploaded for a few days. Perhaps the author of Route Riter will comment when he wakes up down there in Australia.

terrycunliffe and 37413 let me make sure I understand you correctly. Are you saying that Route Riter picks out only the stock for the particular activity and shows it as missing, whereas it shows all other stock on your system as being there?

Yes...
Background was that I was having a problem loading when beta-testing an activity...
I ran the activity check within RR, and I told me that all stock was present and correct (as did MSTS Activity Analyser).
I then ran the check rolling stock facility in RR, which told me that all rolling stock was missing, but just for the 1 activity that was causing me problems.

I have just been through Route Riter again and when I asked R.R to check\Fix Rolling stock every bit of stock for my latest activity says either the wag file or the eng file is missing also it says that 56105.s refered to in the trainset folder says that 56104_DIT.wag is missing. this gives me the impression that Route Riter is totally confused.
