I take it that's the Martian activity at Gatwick? :D

Good activity - I like passing trains and adverse signals, and splitting the train adds a little variety to a straight commuter run.

Now only about 3000 more activities to play...!

Thanks Optrex - glad you liked it. Yes you spotted the Martian trying to beam up the train in front of yours. Dont know why it only happens on some machines (others have tested it and not seen the bolt of white light from the blue) and why it only happens between Gatwick and Three Bridges. I suspect its related to the GForce graphics card.

Yep, GeForce 4 64MB card here, probably some sort of tile thingy. Odd, because I didn't see it at all on the run through and when I remembered the Martian bit I had to jump back to a save point and roll through Gatwick at walking pace with my eyes peeled!

Im using a G Force (3 i think) 128mb card here and as i leave Gatwick i see the white bolt ahead several times for maybe a minute or so before it disappears. Alan from Europeanbahn has tried the activity and doesnt get the same effect. I'd be interested to know if anyone else sees it and if so, what type of graphics card is being used. If it is purely related to the G Force card I might submit it to them as a bug which they might be able to fix. Comments here please.

Ive just submitted my latest activity for approval. Train Rescue requires you to recover a broken down Connex South Central train from Earlswood and tow it to Selhurst Jct.

Feedback and bugs reports here please as usual.

Hope you like it.

Tom - I used route-riter to pack it up - so if you just unzip it to your MSTS train folder it should put all the components in the right places for you.

Let me know if you get any file overright prompts - if you do it should be safe to say no, the activity should work with default stock and shouldn't try to overright anything. You can never be 100% sure though.

Worked a treat and knocked spots off my MPV one! Only thing I thought was maybe you were driving too long AFTER you'd picked it up, or something else could have happened after?
I'm off to try and dream something else up now. It's so tricky though when you don't know anything about trains like me! :-?

Nice one mate

Thanks Tom - originally the plan was to be able to drive into selhurst and wait again for a traffic gap - then reverse down the london bridge line, but that path isn't driveable (or at least i couldn't get it to work).

There isnt much else you can do once you've picked up the train without making it too hard. I added the fuel restriction as an afterthought to try and make people vary their driving methods to save fuel. But short of adding more AI traffic there wasn't much else i could think of.

BTW - has anyone noticed that if you add AI traffic starting from Brighton any AI traffic running from London has its timings changed. Took me ages to get the balance right. Any ideas why this is anyone??

In what way isn't this path driveable - what happens? do you derail? or MSTS locks up?

Alan - the left hand route out of selhurst down slow towards London Bridge just does not seem to work. Even with the path set correctly to take that route the train still turns right down to East Croydon. In addition, the crossover from the up slow to the down slow north of Selhurst also wont let me cross over. No amount of reversing points positioning would make the train cross. Even using the manual shift G to change the points didnt work.

I assumed that the pointwork there was just for show / effect and not for driving. My original draft of the activity was to bring the train into the up slow at Selhurst, pass the signal and reverse back into the down slow and thence onto the London bridge line. I spent hours and rewrote the path many times but it wouldn't work.
