Inside Passenger view does not work when car is picked-up

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Inside Passenger view does not work when car is picked-up

Post by Dspring »

I can create an Activity with player consist of loco plus passenger coaches, and if one of the coaches includes an inside passenger view then I can see this on the View5 key.

However if I create a second activity with same loco backing down to pick up a static consist of the same coaches that were in the first activity, then View 5 does not give me an inside view even after coupling up.

I guess this is because in the second activity the consist is still just the light engine, even after picking up the cars, and although the external views of the entire train now appear the same as in the first activity there is a difference in the way MSTS sees the consist after picking up the cars.

Any ideas on how to make the inside view work after picking up cars ?.

Dave :-?

If you save the activity in progress, exit and then load the saved activity you should get the passenger view.

I'm not sure what happens if you start the activity with, say, a loco and one carriage as a consist, but uncouple the carriage immediately at the start of the activity, and then proceed to pick up others. That way, a valid passenger view is loaded with the activity, even if the carriage is changed at some point later. Some experimentation required.

Any other ideas out there?

Save - reload technique works

Many thanks Jeff, I tried this and it works. A good workaround.

What I tried is the Save Activity after the pickup, then the Reload Activity. I have not tried the second suggestion yet

I have tried the other on many occasions, as soon as you uncouple the passenger wagon, the f5 view is not available. Even picking up a wagon, you can't use it unless you save and relioad.

It was a good idea, Jeff. Pity someone at Kuju didn't have it.
