Activity Editor Problem Help Please.

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Activity Editor Problem Help Please.

Post by paulco »

Hi everybody.

I am trying to Save an activity that is out of date in Dorset Coast V6.

I am opening Activity Editor & Tools and clicking on the following:-

Activity Editor

File /Open

Dorset

Activities

Dcr_90_steam_lad_waterloo_to_weymouth.

But when I click to open File Screen goes Black and Error Message:-
Activity Editor ( Not responding ).

Am I doing this correctly Please?.

How many activities have you got unstored at the moment?

I'd be tempted to use easy Trainstore to unstore that 1 activity and then load up the editors and see if that cures it.

Hi Geoff, thanls for reply.

Not sure what you mean here, Trainstore only Loads the Activity your using and you have to unstore to make any changes. Can have Disasterous results if you Don't, which i've found to my cost in the Past.

This activity is not one of mine, It's one of the few out of date Activities on the Dorset Coast CD. not come across this on any other CD

Having done all the upgades to version 6,3 I thought this problem would have been solved.

I am trying to make this into a Mini-Route but have to fix before Attempting it.

Could of course Wait for new Version CD that's due Shortly, but no information yet.

Hi Paul,
As long as you don't want to add new rolling stock to the activity you can edit without unstoring Trainstore. I've edited activities many times just having the one activity I want to edit loaded using easy Trainstore. With just one route/activty loaded the MSTS editor will load much quicker.
Regards,
Andy.

Hi Andy, thanks for reply.

I understand what your saying, but, nobody has repiled to my First post regarding whether I am doing the commands correctly to access Activity Editor, as I am still getting the Error Message:- Activity Editor ( not responding ) and screen going black.

the commands are correct; however I would strongly advise that you ensure only that 1 activity is unstored when you try to load it into the editor.

In doing a little bit of testing recently re DC6, I attempted to open up the editors with all DVD activities unstored! I got into the editors after about 20 minutes and it then fell over trying to load up a specific activity. Reducing it to just 1 activity unstored brought everything up pretty much instantly and with no problems.

You beat me to it Geoff. I have just run through the procedure as outlined - having only ONE(1) activity unstored - and it seemed to work relatively smoothly (for MSTS that is and of course I did it one handed, having the other occupied with finger crossing!!!!!!).

It's worth noting that saving one "out-of-date" activity typically corrects this error for all of them - I wouldn't object if someone could explain why this happens?

Just remember pick yourself up, dust yourself down, take a deep breath and start all over again!!

I am pleased to hear that you have effectively sorted things.

I have struggled this afternoon with work and hence it's good to see progress by others. Haven't been able to get to grips with the application of seismic loading for a particular structure!

Hence some late working. I have a look at the forums as a break from the pressures of work!

Hi everybody, here's an interesting one.

I have just spotted the latest Activity for Dorset Coast V6. The "London Dorset Wanderer".

I have today converted my Dorset Coast V6 into a Mini-Route. Is it possible to put additional Activities Into a Mini-Route as I've noticed there is no Utility Folder in the Mini-Route Train Simulator Folder, Hence no tsunpack to unpack Activity.

Any help please.
