Decent guide and tools for Activity creation.

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Decent guide and tools for Activity creation.

Post by pennywiseguy »

I have read all the sticky comments, and ploughed through all the various threads, but I can't find anything which gives me what i want, or the links are all dead.

I'm trying to create activities for DC V6 between Southampton (maybe Salisbury) to Portsmouth Harbour.

I want to use stock from the DC V6 , London and the South Coast, as well as a few other individual downloads, such as FGW class 158 and 150s.

Activity editor seems useless when used with trainstore as It will only load the stock and route for the last activity you ran.

When I unstore everything in Trainstore, I just get an endless amount of error messages about out of date activities etc etc.

Please someone, recommend an easy to use freeware activity editor, which I can add any stock I want from any route.

I'm only going to be making a simple activity with traffic that follows a basic timetable, no fancy stuff like reversing or shunting, or train divides.

Thanks

Hi
I don't use Train Store .... but I believe you need to be maintenance mode... then you can unstore anything you want.
Unfortunately for actually writing activities from scratch, there is only one.... the AE.

I there, yeah, I figured out how to just bring in the consists and stock I want now.

Has anyone got some of the guides such as the one on the "Tutorials for beginners" http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... index.html which is now a dead link?

Thanks

Have you taken a look at
http://www.uktrainsim.com/tutorials.php
and the 2 activity creation tutorials there - might help get you started :-)

There is also
http://trainsimulatorworld.com/catalog/b480.htm
which costs $10, but is well worth it.

Thanks for those links, but I think I've pretty much taught myself most of the important stuff.

I have my player service plus 8 other AI services running to a real-life timetable and only appearing when I am near them.

Only one problem, the game seems to crash at random times into the activity, (black screen followed by Train.exe has had to close message) once when I was waiting at a station, and another (earlier in time) when I was just doing a speed run, but before reaching the previous crash point.

Is there a limit to the number of AI services that can run, or can changing cameras cause crashing?

Thanks

Hi. I don't think there's a limit of A1 traffic. My favourite tool is activity changer that easily generates a1 traffic. Once when testing the frame rates on my route, i generated over 100 a1's using different paths and i was still driving 2 hours later. Usually if i get a crash when i know theres no problems, its when i'm in the lineside view, key 4.

It's likely to be a result of a combination of things causing a crash. Too much AI around at the time can knock it out, as can heavily populated tiles (Clapham Jnc - Waterloo on DC springs to mind). I occasionally get crashes when flipping to either view 2/3 when testing.

The only way round it, is to probably try lowering your settings a little.
