Solvite & Wallpaper

Post by mickrik »

Hi there,

I have been working on a little something and it is time to play with textures before I can export the model to MSTS

It came to mind if I could find the wallpaper pattern I could texture the model as it appeared in a solvite advert many years ago.

ok then

who remembers the advert?

ME!

There was a whole series of them - the steam locomotive, a stunt plane, a sheet of wallboard with a guy in overalls stuck to it dangling from a crane, and a plane that had the guy in overalls pasted to it! There were more, but I can't remember them all. Must be a good twenty years back now...

There's a photo of the locomotive here, but it's not covered in wallpaper. :(

Hi Mick,

I know that the LMS liked 'Crimson Lake' Red livery for their Loco's, but Paisley pattern as well, that was taking it too far! LOL

By strange coincidence here's a picture taken on Sunday of 45212 having its Wallpaper livery reapplied

Hi there,

I have a succesfull export to the sim and the animations seem to be working quiue nicely.

I will be testing out the prototype of the model between Birmingham and Lichfield and will create an activity for BC1 at the same while testing. I have picked Loco Number 45015 which was stabled at Aston shed between 1957 and 1960, perhaps longer.

At the moment the loco has been outshopped in an experimental unlined dark blue livery which looks very attractive but not very realistic.

This is where I have to learn to create some lining textures for a Lined Black livery

Hi there,

Here is the first preview of what it looks like. I changed the running number to 45065 as I found when checking 45015 was a Bushbury engine.

The blue will not last. I was just doing a what if and was quite pleased with the result.

It is coupled to a black Mk1 4000 gallon tender which is correct for a lot of Black 5's. I will also prepare a Mk2 welded tender as well. Like 8F's both types of tender were used and sometimes swapped during visits to the works.

Hi

Thanks Jon,

I can see from running it so for there is a lot of fiddling around to do. But so far the model is behaving better than I thought it would be.
