Hi everyone, I was wondering if for these units you could set the pantograph to not affect the running of the train, so that it runs panned up and down (for AC or DC running), for example with the DLR models they are set so the doors are operated by other keys (not the pantograph key like for some other models-e.g. trams) and so perhaps could the pantograph be set to be like this (independent so does not cut off power)? I'm sorry if I haven't explained too well :S

Are you trying to say make them duel voltage by making the pantograph go down and making them go to DC?
If you are this isnt possible. As you cant make MSTS use two power sources. If you want to have it duel voltage save one as electric and one as diesel. Then you want to switch over you select the other version.
Hope that helps

Not necessarily, perhaps have it as just being DC but still allow the pantograph to pan up and down to pretend it is switching as I know you cannot have it set within the .eng file to be both

it doesn't work like that

If you are telling the unit to go AC it stays AC. If you are telling it to go DC it stays DC. It's not possible to make the pantograph to go up if a unit is in DC mode as it thinks it is up already. As DC in MSTS is just the catenary way above the ground and an invisible panto getting power from it.

A thought could be for some stocks, setting the pantograph as invisible, ie as third rail, but having a second, showing Pantograph running on a system similar to MSTS BIN's doors.

With regards to the original question, which model are you referring to? If it is the freeware 313 the Pantograph is modeled in a permanent state of 'up', there is no option to move it up or down as it is not an animated part.

This is exactly what I meant, changing the pantograph to be like the MSTS Bin doors.

Well I had a go at re-skinning (for my own personal use) the Making Tracks Class 315 model into 313 London Overground livery, so the pantograph does pan up and down
