As to the MT models, who knows at this point in time - the Virgin model is free, so who knows - as a single model, it wouldn't really feature as a stockpack as such - unless a few more companies start to run Voyagers.
Maybe you are right, davejc64 and gswindale, but we do not know when the MT XC voyager is to be released as a stockpack or for free. So I think we have to use Virgin Voyager model for now :(

Here is part of an e-mail MT sent me I hope it helps!

Hi Dave Carpenter,

We are currently working on a new version of the 220/221 Model for which the XC and an upgraded VT Livery will be released. It is currently expected to be released as part of a larger pack which will possibly also feature the MML and HT 222\'s.

At this stage it is not possible to state a timescale but it will be a commercial pack for download and possibly on CD.

We hope this response has sufficiently answered your questions.

Depending on price I may consider buying this, even better if it will be available from UKTS!

AS we are talking about it, which it appears we are now :-)

This is how the model stands at the moment.
It is virtually a 100% new model, at the moment the only parts reused unchanged is the hand rail on the nose, apart from that all but one other component is completely new build for this model.

This will not be released on UKTrainSim as it does state it will be a commercial pack.

There are no timescales though so please do not ask MT or on here about release dates or screenshots ... it will be ready when its ready and I would appreciate it if Support Emails were not posted elsewhere without consultation with the author as it is the works of another (so technically copywrite of the author).

No its not, its Demoware of a work in progress model like the SWT Desiro was if you read the readme.

Tony, we could get into a major argument here - I downloaded it legitimately from the MT website without paying. Therefore in one sense it is "free". I understand fully that it is a "demoware"model, I was responding on a question regarding the pricing, and my understanding is that demos are not normally charged for; thereby making them effectively "free". (I've never paid for a demo of anything!)

Very true, and I wouldn't pay for a Sample or Trial Size bottle of anything either, but at the same time the promotional model could be withdrawn. As users will no-doubt know though, that is not the practice that has been used by MT (or most of the authors that do work within MT). The 450 Desiro was released in the same manner, yes the DEMO is available on here, but it is not the same quality model as the ones in the stock pack, and while its been requested to reskin into the 444 its not been granted.

I was not 'having a go' about the comments about the 'free' nature of the Voyager as it stands at the moment, I was annoyed (and still am) that what was said in a support ticket was posted blatantly into a UKTS thread without permission from the Author. What was said was said in private and was not for broadcast to all and sundry on UKTS. If I or Making Tracks wished to make the use of an advertising agency we would have done so. The Voyager pack is a *long way* from release and we were not in a position to release it or the news about it en-mass.

Yes we are working on a Voyager Pack but that is not the reason why the XC Voyager was withdrawn.

No. (It should have been posted on another thread - like the desiro one) but also, what side do we open the doors on? What happens when you change ends to go the other way (with Bin), or stop at an island platform where the doors are on the other side? Its a nightmare to build for the tackiness of being able to see all the way through it cos you got to have both doors open.

And more importantly, I don't know how to make it work.

I did try with the Desiros' or some GE stock and I could not get it to work.
So I gave up.
Not worth the effort it was taking.

There maybe some confusion, you said the Voyager was free, it was, but it was not freeware. Although you did not say it was freeware we were trying to make sure that this was clear.

The XC one was not removed for any reason to do with the new commercial version. It probably did not have permission, becuase I'm simply not giving any new permissions for virtually anything.

The commercial version was only discussed about 2 weeks ago.

Well I for one will wait with patience for the models when they are issued - hopefully by then I will be receiving an income.

Hi Tony

There's actually no reason why people shouldn't (within reason) ask about dates or screenshot on UKTS - whilst I understand why MT has a policy of not discussing release dates (and I personally agree with it) we don't operate such a policy here. However, you are of course free to either ignore such posts or reply stating what your usual policy is.

Unfortunately it is no longer available, but Making Tracks is are planning to release the XC voyager soon.

In the meantime the closest you can get is XC class 170 or Virgin 220/221.
Cant someone just use the making tracks voyager/supervoyager, take the virgin decal off and then ad the crosscountry one on?
