CR 903 Class

Post by cardean »

CR 903 Cardean waiting at Carlisle Station on the excellent Skipton to Carlisie route

This is my first attempt at making a model in TSM, however I seem to have a problem.

The wheels on the tender rotate in TSM but don't when I convert it to run in MSTS.............Help!!!!!

Have you set the animation frames to the correct value in the project properties before exporting? I've made that mistake a few times.
Awaiting a computer that'll run KRS... *twiddles thumbs*

I used Richard Osbourne's Loco building tutorial to make the model and just used the same rotation value-9- that he recommended for the loco on the tender as well.

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... tml#models

It's a tank engine in the tutorial so he doesn't describe how to make a tender.

It might be to do with the part names you've used. Have you used "Train names"? TSM recognises these for major parts. On my MN tender I used Wheels 11, 12, and 13 - for the 4th set I guess it would be 14.

Thanks Danny, I did that on this one, but I now think I know what's gone wrong with the 903 model's tender wheels. It's the way I built it :o

The new one is also WIP. It's a GNSR Pickersgill Class V.

5 of the original batch were sold to the SECR where they became Class G, so they can be used on the Eastern division of the Southern Railway :)

Once again the setting is the Skipton to Carlisle Route,

Good question Darwin :D

Maybe it's the fact that I've gained a bit of know how from making things in Anim8or since I started playing with 3d stuff. :)

When I got TSM, I was a bit apprehensive about learning a new modelling prog but Richard's tutorial is very comprehensive and easy to follow.

I found that thinking about what I'd learned in Anim8or, following Richard's tut and applying them to TSM, I was able to make the models and get them to work-(if you'll ignore the 903's tender wheels :D ).

Please don't get me wrong, they are very much a basic kit, no textures etc, they are just cubes and tubes stuck together, I'm not even sure I can put textures and apply the finer points to them. :o

What I was thinking of doing in fact, was to post them on the site as open source models and let anyone who wants to use them, do so.

The only thing I would want to see in any mod of the models, would be the fact that I was the original model maker :D

BTW, I going to start a new version of the Castle soon because I've learned a bit since the first version :D oh and thanks for the tender files :)
meanwhile here's another loco that could be used on your route-a CR 439 Class 0-4-4 Tank.
