I must say, ive had a test run with the loco, and its FABULOUS!

At least this model doesnt have the problem I had with a previous LN model, in that the tender wheels did not rotate. I'm picky like that. Anyways, this one is spot on, looks brilliant, and looks like alot of work went into everything!

Well done mate, cant wait to see some more variations of the clas, if that's planned?

Thanks for the comments. I have tried hard to get it as good as possible as I am a bit of a perfectionist, it has certainly taken me long enough. There are a few areas I could probably improve on so I may have an updated version some time. Next however will be the BR version which hopefully wont take too long. (and it will look good belting along the new forest route :D )

Well anyway Richard I know I played a very small part in your efforts,
but well done mate looking forward to the BR version.

Also if at a later date you would like this preserved version to run with
an air brake system let me know as I see you mentioned it in your readme.

Hi Rick, That has got me thinking actually, maybe there should be an air braked .eng file version. When I said in the readme it had air brakes its just because I have modelled the reservoirs on the tender and the pump below the drivers side running plate. To you and Kieran as well there have been a few modifications to the last version you have, mainly texture fixes but a few surplus polys removed as well.

Definitely a nice model but it does have a few creasing problems inherent with TSM.

The wheel rims show the edge creases (and have no flanges)
If you make the outside rim a separate part, it can be smoothed independantly.
Also with the cylinder blocks (and any cylinder) - if you separate the end faces they can be creased while the rest of the part can be smoothed.

Don't smooth whole cylinders or the lighting effects go haywire.

Thanks for the tips, I might just have a play around and see what improvements I can make. I was wary of smoothing effects and hadn't really experimented with them apart from on the boiler. Looking back some of the pipework could possibly be improved with smoothing. I didn't include a flange on the wheels as I believed the poly count would get too high, another thing to look at.

Edit: I have just tried to make separate parts for wheel rims and then smooth but when I join he parts it appears to loose its smoothing, not tried it in the sim tho. Or should the rim be animated as a separate piece as well?

Richard in regard to your non smoothed rim when you join the parts go to the options and tick the smooth polys box, TSM has a habit of doing this just resmooth them after the join, as for making the rim seperate, no need. it'll all work out in the end

Once you have joined smoothed and unsmoothed parts, do not go into F2 again or they will all become smoothed again.

Remember that all parts consist of triangular polys.
The ends of tubes are sliced up like a cake - the more sides the more slices..
Always try to replace tube ends with alpha flats where possible.
