Remember you have got the Woodhead 2.2 route as well, it has Hadfield/Glossop lines too, it is still currently avaliable in the file library. I have driven on the route over 5 years ago.

This is the line where Class 506 used to run whem the line was 1500vDC. The Manchester to Hadfield/Glossop line was converted to standard 25kvAC in 1984 and Class 303's then took over. It has since been replaced by Class 323s.
Yup, know all about it. Plenty of scope for GMPTE units, even Thames Mersey route as well, as 303s worked as far south as Rugby when they first moved down south.

I'm taking a break from re-skinning a bit, want to re-name the files and re-work the ENG and WAG files so I can try them out in the sim for myself!

Testing some of the units have brought up a few issues, most I can sort but two I'm having problems with involve units running as AI.

Firstly, any units I place as stationary AI, the lights are on, but units running around as AI, the rear lights don't come on.

Also, the AI units are not making any sounds when they pass.

Anyone have an idea how I can sort it? Would creating an AI unit in Route Riter sort the above?

I'm using the latest bin patch.

Sorted. Cheers.

Looked at your post and realised I hadn't set up separate rear AI lights in the ENG file. Just edited the Blue-Grey 303, which is AI in my test act and when I loaded the act, the passing 303s all had their lights on.

So that's more files that need editing! :lol:

Would appreciate help on the AI sounds if anyone knows what to do.

I don't know much about sounds however I set the Scalabilty Group to 1 and that usely works for me :D

No joy, Dave, still very quiet trains :(

Other AI in the test act makes sounds such as MT's 101 and 26, the EH2 locos etc, but the AI 303s are just very silent, all you can hear is what sounds like wheels turning.

It's a shame as missing out on the squeaky brakes, the compressors, etc etc.

Following on from the light problem, where a second set of lighting instructions were inserted for AI rear lights, I'm wondering if something similiar would work for AI sounds, ie adding in a second set of sound instructions into the SMS file but set up for AI trains.

That said, if the above is right, I have no clue how to sort it! :-?

I've never ventured into this area but I've noticed that if an AI has sounds, it has different eng/wag files from the Player trains. The difference is the SMS files for Player and AI. This means you need different consists for AI and Player as well. I've searched the Sounds forums for AI sounds because this must be a well known procedure. Irritatingly, the search ignores the "AI" and I get thousands of hits just for "sounds" which is most unhelpful. I'll keep trying but perhaps the question should be put on the Sounds forum as well to attract the attention of Someone Who Knows.

I think I understand the instructions on the Steam4me site but when I look at stock that does have SMS variants for AI I haven't found an example yet that completely fits the instructions. There either seems to be other ways of making AI SMS files or more refinements or both. Anyway, best of luck!
