Hi Paul, It's an unfortunate fact that MSTS does not always reproduce a repaint as we hope and think it should. In this respect you should only use Shape Viewer as a guide, the real test is what happens when you load it into the sim.

Turning to your problem with stripes/lines ........these can be tricky to get right and again MSTS doesn't always show them at their best. Often they can "shimmer". I think that thin lines are worse than thick. I don't think there's an easy answer, you can really only experiment with different thicknesses and alternative shades.

Hi Danny, thanks for reply.

I notice with sview that you Have to load the Loco and Tender seperately to view them. Apart from loading Single Consist into MSTS to view the completed Loco and Tender, is there any other way of taking a picture of the completed Loco.

You can display a consist in Shapeviewer - so just create your loco and tender consist, and view it.

I notice with sview that you Have to load the Loco and Tender seperately to view them.
After you've opened the first shape go to File/Open Second Shape then you can get both Engine and tender showing together. To take a pic, just click on the Screenshot button.

Hi Danny, me yet again.

Thanks for that, now sorted. Did you say I could upload a screenshot? and if so how do I do it please.

Have had a look at guidelines for Reskins/Repaints but my first repaint is of an EX BATS Loco. This company/site seems to no longer exist. All I wanted do was show a screenshot of my first Repaint Attempt for an opinion.

You need access to a website that holds images. There are a lot about - I believe UKTS does it - I use Photobucket myself, which is free. From your Shapeviewer screenshot you will need to resize this to a max of 800 pixels (longest side) to conform to UKTS rules, then upload this to the website holding your images, then provide a link to the image when you enter your message on the forum.

You'll also need to obtain the permission of the author(s) of the work before posting a screenshot showing any modifications that you've made.

Hi everybody, will keep this in this section, rather than start new post.

I have just made a major gaff with TGTools, having completed Paint job on Cab, I have mistakenly exported it into the Body file, which DID LOOK GOOD until now. What a mess! I'm sure i'm not the first person to do this? but is it salvagable please, or do I have to start project from scratch.

I have mistakenly exported it
Ooops - we've all done that! You've overwritten the .ace file now so I don't think you can recover it - not unless you kept a copy somewhere.
System Restore? Dunno - never tried that for this situation, but you could give it a go as you can always reverse it again if it doesn't work.

You might just need to put this one down to experience...............

Hi danny, thanks for reply. did'nt recover from major boo boo, took your advice and have started a repaint of your 21C9 Shaw Saville. Loco Completed, Cab and Tender to do. Is SR2IC155 Fighter Pilot one of yours? It is actually from the BATS Southern Region CD but it looks suspiciously like your craftmAnship. if so have Completed Loco, body & Tender which I'm quite pleased with for first attempt. For private use of course.

The BATS Southern Region spam cans were modelled by Tim Court - brilliant models imho! :D Though the reskin into Fighter Pilot is someone else's work.
