Wag and sd file types

Post by RedTez »

Just starting to make my own models with 3dcanvaspro etc., and it suddenly dawned on me, i dont know how to make my own original Wag and sd files. Using the excellent tutorials by Ian Morgan these files were generously supplied within the tutorial. Could anyone explain how to make them or point me to where i need to go to find out how to make them please??

In 3D Canvas Pro, when you finish your model, select the Tools menu and under plug-ins you will find Train Sim Wizard. fill in the boxes as necessary, and the program will make your .s, .sd and .eng/.wag files for you - untouched by human hand.

If you ever need to make your own .wag files, you can just copy a similar one from another model and edit the wagon name and shape file names at the beginning to suit. There are documents on the MSTS CD explaining all the contents of the file, same with the .sd file.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

Ah, so you are into 8 plank wagons and chocolate !

Let Train Sim Wizard create the files for you, then just tweak them manually to fine tune them. I will revise the tutorial one day.

Also, Decapod's Train Sim Engineer plug-in for 3DC is a major asset when you start on something different.

If you search through your CD there are some document's which detail the breakdown of the ENG and WAG file's. So if you find the file, it will show you all you want to know on tweaking the Original's.

But if you can't be bothered with all the searching, just do a search on this site and enter the FILE ID = 2855

download this file and it show's all the entries, what the variable's can be and a brief description of what they do.
