Class 90's Request

Post by Sanchez04 »

Now, I have had a few 90's downloaded and I like them alot. I work for 'one' and we use them on our inter-city services. But, something got me thinking that something just isn't right about the created ones on here to the ones in real life. And I have now worked it out.

The face. A real 90 has a pointy face and it comes out a bit to the center and then pushes back in. Now, the ones people create are flat faced and lose its appeal. Not just that, the 90 is just a tad too high, making it look a bit wrong and squashed, i guess.

So here is a request, could someone please make a 90 so well that it does look like a 90?

Thanks.

You are of course entirely at liberty to build your own one ! ;-)

I did try one a while ago, and its a strangely complex shape.

As opposed to all the other people who were born with the knowledge from birth ?

This forums offers the combined knowledge of a probably a million man hours of using MSTS and many of content creation. Something lacking when the pioneers like James Hunt did his 1st HST / 101 /47 etc.....

Its all there to find if you want to know it.......

If you just want someone to build you a better 90 then you're probably out of luck for now.

The freeware model is pretty good IMHO, and has been said above it's a very tricky shape. They do look very different in different liveries I think. Anton's excellent reskins capture it - I really like the RFD one. Given this is the true twilight of the sim I can't see anyone making a new one when there's a very good one already available.

I'm off to play with EH2... now that was worth waiting for!

Much agreed with you there mate.

To Sanchez04,

I reccommend that you should have a go at reskinning the freeware Class 90 yourself. Its great fun and you will be suprised of how good you can make the texture look after a bit of practice. Also if they are for private use, then you don't even need permission unless you want to show screenshots and/or release you reskin to the public :D. I have a few Class 60 Locomotives that I reskinned myself by reading and understanding tutorials and I had also added some "filth" to the cleaner areas on some of them. I am also in the process of doing some Centro Liveried Class 150/1's too to use on the West Coast Express route .

Definitely worth learning to create your own content, quite often it turns out to be the only way to get something that's "just right" for what you want, although I have to admit when I first started learning to create things for MSTS, some of my early work would probably make the original authors break down in tears and cry if I ever showed it to them, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually not that hard and pretty enjoyable (never thought I'd say it, but I now find route editor fun :o)

So give it a go and see where it takes you, and there's plenty of people here willing to share knowledge and help out if you get stumped by something. :)

**raises flag**

Now that is what I am looking forward to. More opportunity for us to make the West Coast Express more entertainable. Tim, could you kindly do the 90's in Intercity, Virgin, RES and EWS liveries please? Not fussed about the other liveries really :) As for the 92, I would welcome an EPS and EWS liveries as I believe there are now 3 class 92 in EWS livery which are 92001 92031 and 92037.
