A request for models that crash MSTS!

I have completed the first stage of my shape fixer and I'm looking for examples to fix.

If you have a model that works in shape viewer but crashes with a UID 200000 error in MSTS

If you can e-mail me the S file and ACE files, I'll see if I can get it running.

This stage will only fix the problem where there are more than 3000 polys in a primitive.

The >12K poly crash is next on the list.

I have one that has the >12k poly problem - do you want those now as well?

Still 1 or 2 days away from a fixer that effectively allows an unlimited poly count for groups in the model (currently around 3000) and the model as a whole (currently 12K per sub object).

It also removes redundant anumation tags that TSM sometimes produces (which can cause errors)

Do you just want one that fails with that specific error ? I have one which will just crash / hang MSTS on an outside view.

Dave - Any shapes that fail in any way will be useful.

The external view crash is almost certainly a high poly model which I should be able to automatically fix shortly.

I'm pretty sure now I know what causes almost any model related crash, the program I'm writing will check and fix most of them.

That tool sounds wonderful! :) .

Buffy, I had the same problem and I fixed mine yesterday, i lowered the amount of hierarchys to 15, and the problem is gone!. Also I have no more than 3000 polys in each.

8000 Polys is not that high.

As for the rest of it, I'm not sure how we're describing the number of hierarchys, I suspect that I am over the 15 though.

I'll package the shape and send it over to you Paul.

Decapod,

Off-topic, but seeing that you are still working on your excellent MSTS add-ons, could I be so audacious as to suggest an improvement to Shape Viewer?

Would it be possible for you to introduce a button that would automatically load the next shape in a directory? If I want to see the contents of an entire SHAPES folder I have every time to push the 'load shape' button, then scroll to the next shape in the directory list, click it & press 'ok'. In a large directory that gets quite annoying after a while. A one-button 'slide show' feature would be most welcome!

Cheers,

fG

Still working on it from time to time - that's a good idea, I'll add it to the list.
My current version loads all shapes for WAG/ENG and CON files too.

Happy to hear about the new options for shape viewer Paul. Always use it when doing any reskins.

I think I know which model Dave is sending to be fixed and be nice if you could.

@ Dave, I think you could send Paul your 458 and see if that could work?

AFAIK that just crashes if you use zoom 4 from it or view 3,4 or 5 and view its insides.
