{KRS} Class 66

Post by 47522 »

Its pretty simple at the moment, as its just a converted MSTS model.

Its still WIP, i have roughly 12,000-15,000 polys to spend on it before it comes in at my target of 24,000 :P Lots of scope for more detail.

Updates will be posted in here but I'm not sure when, I've got a lot on at the moment.

I just thought that some of you may be interested - even if it is a shed.

Regards

Personally i'd rebuild it from scratch with that model close by for reference, that way the model will look like it was built intentionally for the sim, rather than being an updated model with a few pipes and hand rails thrown on.

Little update.

I'm going to add a little chamfer to some the edges to remove the sharpness.
Then I'll move on adding/replacing detail on the front, working my way round to the solebar and sides etc...

Ive taken a page out of Ben's book of 'How to detail a model' :D

Starting from the bottom and working my way up, building each component as i see it.

The rest of the model is still there, I've just hidden it from view.

Edit - Sorry about the quality - fotopic

Last time I tried that trick, I never found it (the hidden bit) again.....I marked that one down to experience. :(

I guess the punters can't see the hidden wireframes, which even when colourcoded are extremely confusing on complex shapes...and I'm not even colourblind.

Cheers Bazza

Looking good, will you be working on a class 59 next, (seeing as they have many similarities).

Could you show us some detail shots, i swear the undercarriage area is looking highly poly heavy. Whilst we have a new era of sims upon us we can still only do so much.

I've never been a very poly friendly person....

However i don't think I've strayed into the danger zone - quietly confident that I'll get it working in the new sims.

I find it easier to remove detail if i need to.
