I found an almost perfect soundset a while ago, sadly i cant remember where i found it. It was downloaded from a foreign website.

I just had a look in the folder to see if there was a readme but alas no

The sounds are titled:

218_MTU_XXXXX.wav
218_MTUENG.sms

e.g.
218_MTU_kurzgas.wav - Air blast.

218_MTU_Stufe1.wav - Power cruise one.

Maybe someone will recognize them.

Its a really great soundset, it even includes a startup and shutdown routine , which is pretty cool.

Hmm, if anyone does know where that came from, I'd like to give it a try. However, the last 218 soundset I downloaded sounded nothing like an MTU HST. The one I am using at the moment is from an ÖBB 2016. I'm not sure what engine is in the 218, but the 2016 (and identical DB version) has the 4000 series, the same as the HST, so in theory, should sound similar

cheers

Try BR218_MTU.zip from http://www.zugsimulator.de/new/_cms/index.php

Alan

Please have a look at my railway photograph site - http://alan-lewis-chambers.fotopic.net/ - lots of British steam and early diesels

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

I did do one of these as well as i fancied having a go myself having taken some photos of one at Liskeard back in April.

Will try and get some permissions sorted out so i can put some screenshots up.

They are comming along fine, ta :D Have added a Voith style mesh roof grill, as per the prototype and tinted the windows brown and pinked the inside of the doors. Still got to check the sounds mind, but that shouldn't take too much. I haven't done much MSTS or "real" modelling recently, as I've not had a good summer, and to be honest some things matter before a game or little pieces of metal and plastic. Hopefully have it ready soon though folks
Hopefully you won't be disapointed :D

cheers

But of course, we all wish you well. If there's anything we can do don't hesitate to mention it. :D

Also I found those BR218_MTU sounds pretty good but they are awfully quiet when idle.

Anyway, hope you have a good rest of summer (what's left of it... ) 8)

Looking good.
Get these home if I get to Gloucester Station from school in time (2.2miles in about 15mins = about 9mph average on a bike...). More often than not, the buffet is an unrefurbish coach with the rest of the set refurbished however I can only speak for one service (Paddington - Cheltenham) so I'm not sure how widespread this is.
