Still - looking rather good :)

There are three basic class 40 frames, disc, split and bar headcodes, everything else is a modification, later in life some had the MU and steam pipes removed as well as the water tanks, but they still fall into the three basic types.

Hows the 58 coming along BTW?

Cheers,
Terrone.
The 58 is still in the paint shop, due to lack of staff in there ( there all in the fabrication shop :) ) it is still in grey primer.

I got distracted away from the disc 40 this afternoon with this, hopefully get the bogies and tanks done tonight, then l have two other small locos l want to do before getting back to the 56 and the Deltic.

I usually work in batches, 6 or 7 locos in fabrication then wheel them all into the paint shop, l find it uncomfortable to keep jumping from one workshop to the other.

markshipman wrote:That looks brilliant, about time somebody did a decent 40 !, my lack of knowledge of 3DSMax really held me back. Cant wait to see it finished, I may even download it and dust off my MSTS installation. Looking foward to the Deltic, somebody did a really naff one some years ago, wonky vertices all over the nose !.

Mark, l saw some images of your class 40 the other night, its none to shabby !, your texturing is going to take some catching, making slab sided diesels look interesting was something l've not yet mastered so we shall see what comes this time form my second foray into diesels ( Western and 08 was the first ).

I thought you had studied them? since when has a 40 had co-co wheel arrangement?

oops, sorry. Still learning, I was sure Co-Co meant 2 bogies each with 3 pairs of wheels.

Still a lot to go, i'll possibily keep to the mechanical side of steam with the 0-6-0 wheel arrangments and such lol

Well, they aren't far off a Co-Co are they?
Class 40s are a 1Co-Co1 wheel arrangement.

It does, but a 40 has 4 extra wheels than that :)
