DRUMMOND 4-6-0 "CASTLE CLASS" DRAWINGS/ PHOTOS.

Post by tinsley »

J P Duval (http://vh24.free.fr) and myself are looking for data (photos/ drawings) for the above engine. Only 12 were built for the UK but France bought 500 !!! of them for the Normandie area in 1912. The idea is to do the french and british versions of it to please steam fans both side of the " Manche".
J P has produced great models and I have just bought TSM and it seems a simple yet elegant engine to do.
I have tried the net but seem to get mainly bookshops....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Georges..from London.

It's on my list of locos I'd like to make. One of the most handsome British loco - especially in the lined Highland Railway livery.

I've got plans from a tiny outline sketch to BR engineering drawings - I'm sure I've got something in between.

Only have a couple photos of the French locos - I think Jouef made a model. I've got a feeling there were only a few delivered.

Send me a direct email address.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for such a prompt reply....what a great community..
Here's my e-mail: http://www.geodenland@hotmail.com.
As you know for yourself any info is useful and appreciated.
What are your plans for doing this model as I'm sure that J P could do something else.....there are still many great french steamers to do if you want to go ahead with it.
I'd still like drawings as it would be my first TSM project.....which,probably won't be released..

Don't worry, I probably won't make it for MSTS.

I'll try to find & scan the plaans & mail them over the weekend.

If you have decent plans of those French 4-8-0 & 2-8-2 classes with the angled cab front I'd appreciate a copy.

In the meantime why not look at the set of tutorials I uploaded?

Hello, Hello...

What happened to this lovely loco?
The coming soon picture is still on that French website... (2 years later)...
The Highland Railway version never arrived...

Will work be resumed?
Is it possible that I could pick up the work where it was left off, with due credit to those who initiated the project?

I would like to see this loco, Not only for itself, but also because of bits shared with the Jones Big Goods. (From which the Castles were derived.) Don't like to think that any work done so far has been wasted either...
Regards
