Gmax 'next generation' King loco WIP

Post by mickoo »

Just like it says in the title, WIP of 2nd generation sim Gmax locos.

These are Gmax renders without textures, that format info is not forthcoming from future sims yet, when it is then texturing will proceed.

However l may render in simple tga format for placement ready for conversion as and when.

It will go into MSTS ( See BATs forums ) but some cuts are neccessary and some may have simple grey overcoats to see how they fair and for testing shapes etc.

Enjoy

More of other classes when there over 90% complete, if people are interested.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Don't start about the GWR thing!!! :x

I mean it, I can get very worked up about that, which will probaly result in me saying somthing, then a Moderator getting involved & then were back where we started :o

Nice model by the way, especilly because it's GWR  :P

Now forgive me if you've answered this, but are you planning to upload this onto UKTS for MSTS???

Jim,

Yes it is, the wheels are so important for getting the right look, in some views the rims look too thin, in others too fat, l measured some up at SVR the other month and there not that thick at all, its supprising how slender metal can be to support great weights, actually if you think about it , each rim is only supporting 11 tons...or there abouts.

Making the top half look good is reasonably easy but making the lower half look cluttered and busy but retain finesse is a harder task altogether :).

There all real engines LOL, you have to admire the GWR simplistic approach, though l'm sure there use of inside valve gear was a detriment in later days.

One thing l find hard to get over is the sheer miriade of 4-6-0s, some with nothing more than slightly different cylinder sizes, almost like they were searching for the ultimate loco, it is amazing the amount of power put out by the King class and one wonders why Swindon never really went for the 4-6-2, mind there road is more flat land, so if it works then why change.

Excellent model 8)

I knew Mike had talent and taste.

Obviously practising on 'foreign' loco's in order to create 'The best of the West' :)

As is traditional on these forums, I have a request.

Can I have a green one? :)

Well a Castle and a Star ( which then leads to Saint and Court type locos ) will chop from this model quite easily, though l've my eye on a 47xx, a big Prairie and one of those huge 2-8-2T engines.

Sort of gone from LNER to GWR and bypassed my beloved LMS, but l'll get back there someday :), its not going anyware just yet LOL.

Right back to the requisite tender :).
