Does anyone know what class this is (I know it was rebuilt from a Prairie tank), and is anyone making it or has made it? 8)

It is a rebuild of prarie tank 5193 with its tanks removed, and a tender and new cab added to make it a 2-6-0 mogul.

It is a very neat and capable engine, and we were most impressed with it on its visit to the SVR last month.

Weren't the GWR large prairies (41xx, 51xx, 61xx, 81xx (I think)) tank version sof the Churchward Moguls (43xx, 73xx, 93xx) anyway?

There are slight differences like size of boiler and wheels etc to say that is totally true, but in a standard family they arelikely to resemble each other somewhat. The most noticeable difference between an original GWR mogul and WSR 9351 is the boiler on 9351 is quite a bit smaller.

It may perform like it has 3 but I assure you it ain't been given a third between the frames!- I know - I had to climb under it during disposal!

Just 2 cylinders there mate!

AFAIK very few, if no G.W locomotives had 3 Cylinders, most were either 2 or 4 :o

i rode behind it from minehead to bishops lydyeard on the return journey, which compensated for the outward journey because it was pulled by that small diesel which looks like a clayton with rods
