Use of MSTS models in Locomotion - authors views?

I've produced a little tool that allows MSTS models to be used as the basis for producing low resolution (100x50 max'ish) stock images for use in Locomotion. In testing this I used Steve Sherratt's EM2 and (one carriage of) Richard Scott's 59 Stock LU train.
See
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=12668 for samples of the images produced against MSTS quality output
I'm guessing this might open the floodgates so I thought I'd best ask authors views on this. First the images are extremely low res - we're talking 100 x 50 at best. Secondly none of the cabviews, passenger views, wag or eng files are involved AT ALL - just the exterior view. Thirdly these are all freeware addons for Locomotion.
What are peoples views?

I voted as long as I'm cotacted first. But thats only because I have a tendency to go back and try to improve older models so its more of a case to make sure a more accurate model is used

You're not going to see much improvement in 1204 pixels (thats pixels, not polys) on an average Locomotion Stock Image (86 x 14 pixels)

As the images are so small I think most developers will be ok, but don't take that as an excuse as you might upset developers if you produced a huge variety of Locomotion items without asking them.
Also, what if they were working on their own set for Locomotion, and you then blundered in with your own based on their models.
Its courtesy to get permission, not just for copyright or other legal reasons.
