No I wouldn't personally..... as it wouldn't be very good.JonathonAG wrote:This is a question to all that read.
If Chris manages to upload the J36 ( we are currently trying to convince decapod yo give us permission ), would you download it?
PS I have tried to warn you earlier, in another post, about giving the original model authors the correct and full credit. I realise you are new to train simming but you must be made aware that a model ,from scratch, takes the model maker often 300hrs to complete.
I hope you will listen this time....as you are heading towards alienating the model makers towards yourself.....something I'm sure you donot wish.
Certainly pestering Decapod over his O1 is not,I feel,a particular good move at all.
Of course you may see it differently.

Think of this from Decapod's point of view.
Someone downloads the J36 and thinks, "This is nothing like a J36. Who made it?"
He looks at the readme and sees Decapods name so he fires off an email telling Decapod where he has gone wrong.
Then he posts in here telling everybody how bad Decapod's models are.
People begin to doubt all his other models and someone posts that the rivets on the GW tank are 8 inches apart when they should be 6 inches.
Please stop pestering about the J36.
I'd like one too but until someone wants to make one, we will have to do without.
There is a lack of Scottish locos for MSTS but the only way to change that is to learn how to use a modeling program and do a lot of research.
Download the free GMax program or buy TSM and get started.

Being serious for a minute, I really hope Paul (Decapod) is fairly easy going, as all this going on about the J36 might have really annoyed other model makers, to the point where they decide to leave freeware if their work isn't being respected. Don't forget, if Paul lost his patience over this issue you wouldn't just lose models but also some very useful utilities like Shape File Manager and Shape viewer.
If a modeller says no, walk away. Don't moan, don't try and apply "pressure" by uploading pictures, just accept the decision and try and find another way of satisying your wants. The modeller will have put a huge amount of their precious free time into doing the model, it is the same as someone doing a painting or a sculpture. In the same way as most painters would refuse to have their work repainted into Constable's Haywain becuase someone likes the frame but prefers Constable, some modellers don't like their work repainted to represent a completely different loco which looks a bit similar. I would hope a painting or sculpture would be afforded some respect, so please show respect for the model in this case.
I know if this harping on about the J36 gets up Paul's nose and leads him to withdraw from the freeware scene there will be some very angry UKTS members around, not at Paul, but at those who preciptated any such move.
