Australian R761 Model problems

Post by JonathonAG »

I am near the end of my reskin of the R711 model at the Steam4me website as Steamrail's R761. I have a couple of problems though.
1. The smoke deflectors on the original model were used twice, for the normal purpose and the purpose of part of the boiler, so when I painted the SD's red the SD's are red and so is a small part of the boiler.
2. I need to create transparancies for windows and wheels but I am no use at them as I don't understand the tutorial on UKTS

Can anyone help me?

Hi Jonathon,

Part 1 can only be done by the original modeller as a new shape file will be required that would use a different section of the texture file to do thje smoke deflectors.

Part 2, hmm. If you have TGA Tools 2 then if the original texture file had a transparency in it then this should be displayed on the right hand side of the programs window. You can simply keep this texture while you modify the main bit.
On the other hand if you are creating them from scratch this will be impossible unless the shape file for the model in question was set up to allow transparency and alpha layers from that texture file.

Hope this helps,

Dan
