Hi Folks. Just another couple of screenshots, showing a couple of tweaks.
I've replaced the GNER emblems on the carriage sides, and re-worked the GNER logos on the loco. I've also made some minor changes to the front of the loco, and corrected the shape file, so that the ends of the Mk.4s have the slight indentation.

(Sorry about the JPEG quality on this one. I'll re-upload when I can be bothered)

Wow ! Those pics are breathtaking
. I have a suggestion for those whom want a cab for the class 91 or the 90. There is a BVE class 90 availible for BVE but if you ask the author nicely - he may let you convert it for use in MSTS as this was done for the class 87 cab by Jon Bilton. Also the cab for the BVE mk3 DVT would also be useful for the msts class 91 but its converting them corrently that will be a task to do as i have expertmented with the BVE class 180 cab to use with the MSTS class 180
. I think that most BVE cabviews would be sutable to convert to use on MSTS trains as well. But i mess up on making cabs so i'll leave it to those whom know what they are doing
. One note is that there is a class 91 for BVE too but the cab only has animated guages and dials - no controls so it probably won't be much appertizeing to most people. I would suggest converting the mk3 DVT cab for MSTS instead but make sure to contact the authors first or they won't be happy if their content is used without consent etc
.
Hope this helps

Would you believe, but I use the Class 60 cabview for a Class 90/DVT, they look remarkably similar - well a lot more alike than the Acela one anyway!ash888 wrote:Wow ! Those pics are breathtaking. Hi Folks. I'd almost forgotten about this thread!
There is a bit of bad news (that is, if you liked what you saw!)
1) I've still had no word from Ben Laws, and without permission, I'm not allowed to upload any re-skins.
2) During a system-wide backup, there was a brief power cut at home. This totally wrecked the HDD, so I lost all of the textures
If I ever learn how to use gmax, I'll do my own 3D model, but I doubt that will happen.
Anybody fancy a collaberation?
PM me,
Cheers
Gary

I hope that Ben Laws give you permission, and also, you get to re-make the textures.

Hi folks.
Sorry to 'bump' this thread in any way, but after reading a few other posts, I suddenly had an idea....
I'm wondering if it would be allowed for me to upload the replacement texture files only?
i.e, a ZIP file containing nothing but ACE files, so that no of the original work is duplicated in any way? That way, people would download the texture files, and apply them to the loco themselves.
As I said, just an idea, but I'm uncertain if this would be allowed or not, so I'd very much like to hear others opinions on this.
Cheers

That used to be the method that 3dTrains used on their early F-series diesels, so I can't see a problem if the .ace files are your own work, not just modifications to the originals.
You may have to include a set of instructions for the unskilled on how to install them and what to change in the .s and (maybe) .sd files.

Hi,
A while ago i did this for the class 90 by James Hunt when i did a skin in RES livery because at the time i released the skin - there were no res liveryed class 90's around at the time and Jonathan's Excellent 90 was still in the making at the time
. I also included a readme that gave users that downloaded my skin for the class 90 could add it to any of james hunt's class 90's by nameing my ace file appropiately to match the existing .ace filename so to avoid errors and stuff like that
. To my knowledge and experience you don't need permission to upload replacement skins as they are officially your property
. But if you want to include the model as well as the repainted .ace files then that's a totally different matter
.
Hope this helps
cheers
