When was 1st batch of GWR 45xx (4575 type) built

Post by robin »

Hi folks,

Does anyone know when the first batch of GWR 4575 in the 45xx/55xx series were first built? I know the batches of 45xx/55xx range from 1906 - 1929 but somewhere in between they switched from straight top tanks to the familiar larger capacity slopping tanks from loco 4575 onwards.

Ta very much. Also I just had a look on the http://www.greatwestern.org.uk site and it has a nifty excel spreadsheet you can download with all the GWR locos and batch dates for production. It confirms what you said too.
