Yes. At the moment this area is completely white because it is textured from a colour sample. It is the next thing im working on, aswell as having the grey follow down the length of the train under the door foot plate level.

the roof also needs redoing to get rid of the dark grey patch along the edges. :)

Why can't there be 2 versions of the 166? Like the HST, there is the James Hunt version and Buffy's version.
If you were wondering, the avatar is me on Planet Stooopid...

Can't you release yours until the next one is released?

Please? :)

I don't see what the issue is here... If Mathew37057 and TrackDancer want to make a 165/166 then what does it matter if there was a buffy/Lucazone model nearing completion?

Competition is good for everyone, As I see it buffy already has 165/166 models in the trainsim libruary - By releasing a 165/166 Mathew37057 and TrackDancer are competing with buffy's original models, A bit hypocritical if they then wish that nobody releases a model to compete with theirs.

PS - I'd like to make a class 180, I've never even tried making a model before and it'll probably take me at least a year to make one but I hereby request that anyone making a new class 180 please stop as I don't feel I can compete.

Please release the 166.
It is the one of the best looking models ever produced for MSTS and your attention to detail has been a breath of fresh air to all.
Do not let others put you off be it because they feel threatened, put out or just plain jealous.
The 166 proposed by the other two has not been previewed, we have had no screenies or progess reports.
This amazing creation of the other hand is an honour to the MSTS community and Dave n' yourself should be rightly proud putting it in the public domain for the enjoyment of us mortals.
Just my 10p worth
This post is worth what you paid for it.

well im not that stupid, and if i was going to keep this to myself...it would never be finished.

Im pleased to here that the effort in going down to the smallest details will pay off. Though i already know that drawing bolts on the fuel cap really was too far....as u cant even see them in the game.

90% of the textures are hand drawn, with only things like the destination boards and engine parts being mapped with actual photo's.

I promise i wont take to much longer on it.

Phew.... It's not dead :D

LucaZone, Do you have any further 165/166 plans for when your current creation is finished?

The updated Thames Trains livery with the oval green door markings isn't too disimilar to the one your working on now - Any chance that version being created.... oh and a NSE version too... how about 165's and 166's of each? (Hope I'm not pushing it here!)

Actually, I'm not sure if I've seen a 165 in the early version of Thames Trains livery..... Maybe I have but I just can't say for sure :-?

Yes an NSE version is definately planned, to commence once this one is complete.

Ive yet to completely clarify if the 165's are the originals and the 166 are the same trains but after the overhaul the turbos went through. Ive yet to see a 165 in green/white Thames Trains livery. and ive yet to see and 166 in NSE livery.

I think the 166's are the turbo's with the new engines......

I sure i can provide the oval livery yes :)

166's are newer, faster and more importantly have air con - I believe they also only operate in 3 car sets.

165's are operated by Thames Trains and Chiltern - The refurbished Chiltern units have modified lighting units.

LucaZone - You didn't mention the new Thames Trains livery, It has different green door markings (slanted circular shapes) and looks much better than the orginal livery.

The latest fleet updates seem to be the addtion of the web address http://www.thamestrains.co.uk on sides of the leading cars of each unit.

Ive seen 166's operate in 2 car formation, and have the oval green livery. As far as i know 165's come in NSE livery, and 166's coming in 2 types of green/blue/white. One has the blue strip down the side, backed by white, with slanted oval green over the doors. The other is the swish green that ive textured the model in.

In ur replies u mention 3 versions - early/updated/new. Yet i can only find pictures of the 2 that i know of. the Oval doors (which i thought was the original TT livery), and the swish (which i thought was the new livery).

Swish is the old livery, Oval doors are the new livery.

All units whether in swoosh or oval are having http://www.thamestrains.co.uk logos applied.... I guess what I mean't was that there are 2 variations of each livery if you take the www address thing into account

Also, The 165's are slowly emerging refurbished and painted in the oval livery - I can never recall seeing a swoosh version.

Strangest combination I've seen was a 165 car in NSE livery attached to a 166 car in either oval or swoosh livery to form a 2 car set.
