JR West Shinkansen 500 Download

Post by ronik24 »

Hurrah! Beta 1 is here!

Download here:

Finally I got the front texture right (the basic shape was my first model I made 1 1/2 years ago, still with FS Designer).

The lights and the cab are behind semi-transparent glass (the backlights are actually inside the cab) and they are always turned on because you can't see any MSTS-lights behind alpha-textures.
However I never saw a picture of the original train without headlights on. Of course you can switch the light cone on and off.

The cabview is also already quite nice with signal speed indicator and speedometer in the right places.

As a little feature you can play the Nozomi-chime by presing the bell button ("b").

The wire height is set to Japanese MSTS standards (5.4 m).

Enjoy the coolest rail vehicle on Earth!

Hi

That looks brilliant-it's time we had something for the Shinkansen :D

You'll have to notify JohnCarr aboutthis-he's been looking for Bullet Train stock for the NRM.

I tried it out with the derailments turned off on the Noth East Corridor line. I turned 356km/h out of it

Man is that ever fast, but what really amazed me was how good the brakes are! Going from 356km/h to 0km/h takes very little time considering the speed you are moving at.

All in all a good first beta, the textures need tidying up, amybe put some transparent glass in, and the cabview isn't ideal but that's all stuff you can sort out in time. Great job :)

Just re read this thread and realised there was a comment re the NRM wanting a Bullet Train route & train. Several people did either email me or send pms and I can say that the NRM have downloaded it, think it is excellent and all they need now is a route. Any takers???

If a route does not appear then I will suggest that they will have to use a default route during the Japanese week in late July.

Thanks to all who have contacted me.
