SPT Rail Class 318 (Refurbished version)

I can say now that the Class 318 model refurbishment is completed. I have built the new DTSO and DTSOL from scratch, based on Ben Laws original model, using the same textures as the original model did. The original centre car (MSO) is retained.

As I can recall I have done the refurbished Class 318 three years ago, but only as a representation, still having it's front end corridor. I thought the unit can give everyone a chance to use the up-to-date model for current activities.

Some folk wanted the refurbished version with front corridor end removed. So, as the Glasgow Carlisle V3 is being completed, I felt the need to do a proper refurbished one. One day, Jon Bilton have done experiments to the exsisting model to remove the front end corridor, but the rear corridor and underframe disappears! So the best bet is I had to build the new driving trailer ends - from scratch.

Two sets, 318251 (with Dalmuir destination) and 318263 (with Motherwell destination), have been competed..

No.318251 (DTSO end).

Also, the DTSOL even have the toilet fitted to the model, which is another improvement.

No.318263 (DTSOL end).

Still need to package yet, and i'm still deciding wherever the 318s would be to either be set-up as the original MSTS configuration and also include the provision to include MSTSbin files, or just simply set-up as MSTSbin only and anyone wanting the 318 will need to get MSTSbin (simple as that!).

Hope you like the 318s, it is currently on test at the moment and will be released once it is fully tested.

With Regards
Alistair Cowell

Will be a great addition to Glas Car!

I would say set up as MSTS Bin, for the simple reason that it's needed for the route as some tiles have a LOT of items on them. Anyone with MSTS bin is going to have a hard time running the route otherwise.

Looking good there Ali :D

I'd be tempted to go with the BIN only version. Most people should be using it by now - especially as it is so vital for numerous routes these days.

I'd second that, I'll go for MSTSbin only version for the Class 318 then.

We lesser mortals are just happy to have such fine models available for our use.

Yet again excellent work, thanks Alec

I have tested the Class 318s today on the Glasgow Carlisle v3 and looks set for packaging then ready for upload.

Details for the Class 318 model has been finalised. The Class 318 models will require MSTSbin installed.
As usal, Cabs and Sounds will be aliased to MT: Great Eastern (and if you don't have GE, alternative files will be provided which will use the Class 455 cab and Networker Sounds). I hope you will enjoy the Class 318 models once it's released.

Cheers :D

Hi Ali

You are brilliant

You've answered my question on the Wishlist forum. I've had a look at the screenshots and the amount of work you've done is very impressive. I just want to ask, when is it going up on to UKTrainSim?

David

Looking good Ali - that means a reworking of a couple of my activities then (shouldn't be too difficult to do though :-))

When it's ready, David. Will be packaged during this week, so it is likely to be sometime within a week or so.

Hi Ali

That's fine, you said it'd be packaged this week and released next week on UKTrainSim. 8)

Sorry, if I've made a mistake with that.

Hi Ali

Congratulations, you are the best. You said your train's was File ID 26700. You're train is not that far away from making it on the site, the most recent on the site is File ID 26698, so should be either tomorrow or Friday. Only time will tell.

Keep your brilliant creations coming, and I'll tell you what I think once I've downloaded it.

David

P.S. I'll add you as a friend on my empty friend list.
