Has anyone worked out how we can simulate a locomotive being started or shutdown?
Is there a way to introduce another button control to a locomotive cab for this?
Its one of the big things that train sim is missing (are you listening microsoft?)

No, a player engine is always 'live' in MSTS. You can modify a steam loco eng file to make it almost cold at start up and then spend an hour raising steam manually if you wish, and Stuart Williamson has uploaded some diesel shunter sounds that begin with the loco silent and the bell (spacebar) starts the engine sound up, and shuts it down when you finish - but this affects the sounds only, the loco is fully driveable.

The Bell is "B", not spacebar! The normal looping Bell sound is just replaced by a Idle Diesel Engine sound so you can still run the train when the bell is off.saddletank wrote:No, a player engine is always 'live' in MSTS.
