Big thanks for 37240

Post by chief »

Hi all,

What a big surprise it was to see a great model of 37240 uploaded to this superb site, big thanks to 40058 for his re-skin and to Mark Shipman for his excellent model.
For those who may be interested it won't be too long now before the real 37240 thrashes again in the real world.Having just re-fitted one of the camshafts that failed, causing the locos withdrawal, pistons and liners are now going back in,ready for a fire up in the next few weeks.
Thanks again,

Thanks Martin, glad you are happy, good luck with the repairs, how much does a EE12cly camshaft weigh ? I've changed the one in my Dolomite Sprint once but thats rather smaller I suspect.

and thanks to 40058 for the repaint, I hadnt noticed that 37240 was avaliable I must try it out.

Hi Mark,in response to how much a 37 camshaft weighs, there are 2 camshafts in a 37,one for each bank of the V,each consisting of 3 separate sections, each of which is about 1m long,15cm diameter and weighs probably around two-thirds the weight of your cars engine !! ,so yes,its very heavy !!! If you,or anyone else for that matter on this forum requires any information, photos, sounds etc of classes 02,03,08,20(when it comes back from CTRL!),25,37,46 and 47,just let me know,as in my capacity as group secretary/driver, I have access to the above locos anytime.
Keep up the good work !!!

Thanks for that, when some more variants are available there should be some more blues....to complement Marks superb efforts.

Cheers for that Mark...with your superb 37's, 40's and Deltic's to name but a few, I've got quite a collection of the EE type's now.
