One For Scottish Central

Post by mickrik »

Hi There

With many thanks to Cardean here is the latest addition to the Scottish Central stockset. To join the roster of ex-Caley locos to survive into the 1960's the Class 439 0-4-4T. Designed by JF Mackintosh as a fast accelerating Tank loco for passenger work. They spent their final days on branchline, empty stock and station pilot duties.

This in my opinion is one of the prettiest classes of loco built to rival the Southern M7 for looks.

This is the first screenshot of it as No55214 as allocated to Grangemouth 65F in mid 1950's livery. There are still a few more jobs to do be done in the cab and I could do with trimming a few more polys off it if I can. It stands at 32200 polys. It is high as it still has 3D cab components as with the Jumbo and Mackintosh 3FT.

Hi Rob,

Many thanks Rob but I must emphasise that the main part of the loco was built by Cardean and I have increased the detail level of it.I hope it meets with his approval.

There will be 4 models for Scottish central, the other 3 will carry the stovepipe chimney and LMS dome.

Don't think there was an inbetweeny.

There were a few 3MT stanier 2-6-2Ts but I never heard of a nickname for them.

Standard at Motherwell was LMS standard designs.
Standard goods was the Midland design 4F.
Standard passenger pug was a Fowler 2-6-4T but these were gone from Scotland by nationalisation so the name passed to the BR 4MTs.

I always suspected you were a Caley man Ian. :)

Does this suit you? It's a slightly modified model from the one that I sent Mick but still basically the same. :D

BTW, The Standard 4MT's were called "Doodle-Bugs" when they were shedded at Kittybrewster all those years ago. :(
