From TSM to 3DC

Post by mickrik »

Hi there,

Something that happened along the way while the Jumbo was under construction was that Cardean offered me an unfinished Class 782 0-6-0T for Scottish Central. I do not know if there is a thread that covers this subject anwhere or if any other modeler has tried it as the model was originally built with TSM.

There were no problems with scaling and no problems exporting the model into the sim either.

This is a screenshot just after I started working on her.

This is what she looks like up to today. The model is near finished with just a few small jobs left to do.

Nice work Mick - and John? :D I didn't realise you could transfer TSM stuff so readily into 3DC.

Hi Danny,

Neither did I untill Cardean mentioned he had seen it somewhere and offered me a model to experiment with. I had a hunt through the import section of the program and hey presto, it reads .tds files.

What this means is that some earlier models can be re-vamped with some extra detailing as with 3dc, it seems when used with shape fixer (courtesy of Decapod) you can get away with a much higher polycount shape file.

This for me has been a very rewarding experiment.

Here is a screenie of another scruffy version allocated to Grangemouth

Please note the addition of a stovepipe chimney which some say looks ugly.

Very nice Mick, you've captured that scuffy look well. I don't think the chimney looks ugly, it just seems incomplete without the lip at the top. :D

Hi There,

A pack of 4 of them all ready for testing for Scottish Central

2 with stove pipe chimneys, 2 with Westinghouse Brakes, they are all slightly different from each other.
