Thanks for the suggestion Ged - I copied the Global shape files from the notebook to the desktop but Route Riter still cannot find them (although they are clearly there) and posts the same error messgae as before. :(

The four errant acts remain non-working...

Hi Ash,
This seems a very, very strange one!!

You say the two MSTS installations are identical. Maybe copy the complete Train Simulator folder from the Notebook to the Main PC, after renaming the existing Train Simulator folder. This will work OK, I do it all the time! The registry entries won't be affected because the folder still has the correct name.

Can't think of anything else, so I'll go and sleep on it! Mind you, I won't promise I can come up with anything!

Cheers,
Ged

Are you using the same tsection on both installs?

Yep, same T-section (set up from Trainstore so it can't get over-written), same bin patch, same operating system... beats me!

Hi Ash,
Have you tried my suggestion from last night?

If you get no errors on the Notebook installation on the Main PC, then the cause of your original errors is something in your Main PC MSTS setup.

If you still get errors when running the Notebook installation on the Main PC, then it is something on the Main PC, outside of MSTS, which is causing the problem.

Are the Notebook and Main PC using the same version of XP, ie SP2 or SP3?

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged

SP3 on both, identical MSTS setups, including Tsection & bin patch. I've copied all the files from the working installation on the Notebook (including the Global/Shapes folder) to the Desktop PC over my home network - still showing missing files errors on files I know are present...
frustrating and utterly illogical (captain!)

Hi Ash,
Beam me up!!

From that, logically, I would say it is something on your main PC. Suggest you copy the complete original Train Simulator folder from your main PC on to the Notebook, after renaming the Notebook's Train Simulator folder. I am assuming TrainStore is not involved. After doing that, run the copied MSTS on the Notebook; if it runs OK, then that confirms the problem is on your Main PC.

If you're still getting errors, that's the end of my barrel scraping - it's as clean as a new pin!
