Nice work Jon!

Are you planning to provide repainted models for when they ran in their later years in the following liveries:-

1. Blue Grey with full end yellow panel?
2. Grey/White Blue with full yellow panel?

I note that you appear to have them labelled for both Midland and Western sets. I managed to change the "name" many moons ago as my first efforts in this field, but repainting them totally defeated me because of the way that the "thing" was mapped.

Keep up the good work, Ruf

PS Whilst we have all theses variations on a theme ( not the one by Paganini!) the scope for new/repainted models for MSTs remains undiminished.

Yes but what about when they ran in their pullman livery with yellow ends - approx 1968ish - and with reversed white/blue pullman with yellow ends - 1970ish!

Hi Ruf
The major differences between the Midland and Western power cars was the addition of two extra seating bays... and they were second class.
There were 2 extra 2nd class Parlour cars, which carried the Aux generators (instead of the Kitchen cars)
The Kitchen cars were reversed seperating the outer second class seating from the central first class.
I think I've done the best with the model as built.
I don't think its not possible to support the later liveries.

I remember being told that some time ago; but I had hoped that you might have been able to do something?

Is it possible to apply a totally new livery to the original model? If so is there any sort of guide/tutorial that you are aware of?

Other than that I suppose one would need to start completely from scratch?

That's another task added to the list!

Hi Ruf

Its not just changing the colours, as on the current model part that would need yellow shares the same area that needs to remain blue etc.
To do the job properly the model would need re-mapping.
You can only re-map in the modeling programme, with the original builders files.
Now you use Shape Viewer ...you can select textures and sometimes see where they are used on the model.
Sometimes this helps.
Occasionally you can change the name of the ace file, and use a different texture.
(I did this for the seat textures on the 502/503)But only because the body texture was already listed twice.
Or discreetly use a texture which shows up in one area that you want, but hardly in another.
On these Western Pullmans I added the destination winow.... but I had to move it a couple of times so it didn't show on the cab roof.
Anyway you get the idea.

Yes I do see the problem as I note that the S file for the Driving Unit employs both the blpullkit.ace and the blpullpar.ace.

Therefore the only obvious solution would be to build a model from scratch!

Oh well at least more basic information has been gleaned.

Hi Ruf
To be honest the more textures used the easier to reskin (as posted above).
However you have to realise that these models were built in the early days of MSTS... and its developed over the years beyond recognition.
I have to say if Richard hadn't done a really excellent modelling job, then the re-skinning wouldn't really work.
The power cars weigh in at 4.18 kujus which was something for 2002.... along with his attention to detail .
For instance all tables and chairs are modelled along wth internal panels... (which I've managed to texture to a reasonable detail).
Still as always with my re-skins, once uploaded anyone can give it a go, so long as they are not 'fantasy liveries'.

As I said earlier I'm only interested in creating the alternative liveries carried in their later days, and definately NOT fantasy liveries.

But as I also said I may not look at this until a later time, probaly when I want a break from my DMU efforts.

Hi Ruf
The Fantasy livery was a general caveat usually imposed by the original modeller.... not aimed at your good self.
As I say I don't think the later liveries are possible .... I would like them too... but feel free to have a go.
