I have a 2 lane road with 3 tracks crossing it. 2 are mainline tracks with full 4.5m gates on all sides. the third is a service track that I want to not activate the gates. A diagram of the location:

I have gates between the mainline and service tracks, but all 3 tracks activate the gates. haw can I split the crossing so trains on the transfer track don't activate the mainline gates?

Hi
You can edit the properties for the gates in RE.
Set the activation distance lower.

I know how to do that, I meant basiclly remove the orange boxes from the service line.

That would be a gate then..... just add them to the ref file as any other piece of static

Indeed, as Jon says, place the gates as a static item in the route and they then wont open when anything goes past. :)

Hi, not sure if this will work, but I have a feeling it might;
if you want to have your road vehicles interact with the gated crossing AND the ungated one - just not have the gates on the main close when you are driving on the transfer line, you could always remove the stretch of transfer track across the road, set your crossing gates as you want them, and then add the transfer line back across the road. This way, you end up with only two orange boxes instead of three.
You could then investigate the possibility of using an invisible or buried set of gates to protect the transfer line.

Hope this helps.

regards
Andy

Assuming you want both sets of crossings to work properly- if you are able to move the transfer line a little further away from the main lines this is the only way you can get them to act separately. Just experiment by putting in a single piece of track a distance away form the main lines and then laying a crossing to see if it puts orange boxes on just the mainline tracks. You can then put a separate crossing on the transfer line.
