What still needs to be done then, Niall?NiallGray wrote: Thankyou, I'm trying my best and grateful for the help I've been getting along the way. Finished or not, it will have to go up sometime during the summer as from next Autumn I won't be able to commit the time to MSTS anyway due to a work project I'll be involved in.
Re: Glasgow - Carlisle v3
Loads. It'd take ages to list everything, but I'm currently re-working the v2 sections of the route.

Good luck with it Niall, I hope you can get most of it done in time, before you have to concentrate on your work project.

Good weekend, first time on it in a while and managed to get a lot more done around Rutherglen area. Still a lot to do to get to Cambuslang but heading in right direction now. Almost done the gap between Rutherglen and Dalmarnock as well, just need a bit more scenery here.
On a lesser note, the website has been deleted. Was having immense problems accessing it to update so decided to get rid. Updates will still be appearing on the forums.

After a few problems with the route (see below link),touch wood, things are getting back to normal.

I'm going to have to re-do some scenery around Rutherglen but after that's done, I can move along the line a bit.
The main focus is from Cambuslang up to Uddingston. It's a good stretch to do as it'll allow me to link up two stretches of completed line. A temporary Cambuslang station is in and Newton station is about there (pics at a later date). Work has begun stripping out the old scenery and it'll take a few weeks at least to finish this stretch.

Been a while since last update but that's work for you, always getting in the way of things!
Easter weekend (which is over for me now as back to work) has allowed me to make a fair bit of progress. For those who know the route, you can now go all the way from Carfin to Rutherglen, with re-worked scenery. This weekend I filled in the last gaps around Newton to link the two sceneried sections. There's a temporary station model at Cambuslang (courtesy of sundaypm) but even then it's better than what I could do! Few trackside fences need adjusting but otherwise am happy with how this stretch looks.
Plan of attack now is filling in the stretch from Uddingston to Motherwell on the mainline, which is not as easy as it sounds as I'm altering terrain to put in a bridge/viaduct (whatever you call it) just before Motherwell. When that's done I'll have a stretch of mainline from Rutherglen to Shieldmuir, completed.

Many thanks for the update Niall - sounds like a lot of hard but worthwhile work, which I'm certain will result in another superb route that you can be proud of. How much do you reckon you've completed, in % terms?

All I can say is all the v3 sections (Lines to Gourock, Wemyss Bay and Paisley Canal) I am happy to sign off on. Of the v2 everyone knows, only Rutherglen to Carfin is truly complete with bits and pieces elsewhere ie, Motherwell-Shieldmuir, Lanark-Lanark Junction.
Loads still to do but I find when I get help with stations I can get more work done as it allows me to concentrate on scenery placement. Doing my own stations slows me down immensely.

Re: Glasgow - Carlisle v3
Altering the terrain around Motherwell (I just can't get a viaduct in north of the depot, long story) and getting problems/crashes meant I did my usual thing of flitting off elsewhere for a bit. Last night I did Langside station on the Cathcart Circle, so when I do finally start on the circle, I'll have a starting point to work from. (Picture in the screenshots thread).
Plan next time is to finish off the Motherwell- Bellshill/Holytown turnoffs scenery and then I'm going to work along the Hamilton loop. I haven't got exact buildings for Hamilton Central and West, but I do have buildings that are similar. Once I can find a decent building to double for Wishaw, I'll start working down towards Carluke.

Re: Glasgow - Carlisle v3
Little update.
In the end, I've had to leave out the viaduct north of Motherwell, but at least the western approach now has one.
With that area sorted, attention now turns to the Hamilton Loop. Both Airbles and Blantyre stations were done ages ago, but I've never done any scenery on this section. Will take me a while to complete and both Hamilton stations will be a challenge, but they've got to be attempted at some point!
As a bonus, I've also done Kirkhill station and pleased with myself because I was able to make a ramp in sketchup and export it. (For me that's a big deal!

Re: Glasgow - Carlisle v3
Scenery placement on the Hamilton circle has gone much quicker (so far!) than I expected.
Earlier this week I linked Newton to Blantyre and Motherwell to Airbles, and also did both Hamilton Central and West stations. Today I've linked up Hamilton Central to Hamilton West, and happy with how that scenery is looking.
This leaves from Hamilton West to Blantyre (about 20% done) and Airbles to Hamilton Central for me to finish this stretch off.
Hopefully I'll have this done later next week as got a few days away coming up.
If there's anyone who fancies helping out by modelling a few stations, the stations on the Cathcart Circle and line towards Kirknewton are proving a pain. Any help appreciated, just drop me a line first if you can help.

A video showing the work done on the Hamilton Circle for anyone interested.
I finished this section earlier than expected!

Re: Glasgow - Carlisle v3
Still plugging away. The last week or so has seen me strip out all the scenery around Cathcart and re-work it, including a bit of terrain adjustment on the Neilston turnoff.
For those who know the route, I now have completed a stretch from Cathcart round to just before Shawlands station. I've relaid scenery around Cathcart station and even though trackwork is slightly different to real-life, I've given it my best shot. Cathcart station has been re-done. However it doesn't have a station building (nothing suitable I can use -- hopefully can rectify that sometime) but it does have new platforms/seats/lamposts/signs.
I've also had a crack at Kings Park station. The station building I re-skinned is not exact to real-life but it's a very similar shape/style. Plan now is to fill in the gap between Cathcart and Kings Park stations. It's not far in distance terms but the terrain is a making work slow.
After that, they'll be no more work on Cathcart cirlce for a while as the next stations (Maxwell Park and Mount Florida) are both unique stations and I'll have to ask around for help to tackle them.
Instead I'm going to work on the Wishaw area, filling in the gaps back to Shieldmuir and the Carfin turnoff on the Holytown line.
