This route is determined to give me grief!

Almost a week's work down drain after power outtage while drive was saving my most recent work. Turns out the tumble dryer had packed up and decided on that exact moment to fuse the power. :shocked!: The computer is working ok but the route is no good, so I've had to use a recent back-up. I'd almost joined up Bellshill to Uddingston and now have to go back and do it again.

So fed up I'll going to leave work on it for a bit and go back to "playing" MSTS for a week or so. Besides I need to go see about getting tumble dryer fixed/replaced!

Back on track. I've now scenerised the section from Uddingston to Carfin, via Bellshill and Holytown, the first stretch of the old v2 sections to completely re-done.

Haven't decided whether to carry on to Newton or double-back along main line to Motherwell. When there's so much to do, you can never decide!

Hi Niall,

I'd say go to Motherwell and the freight yard, then go back and finish the other part.

At least then if you get fed up revamping the route you will have some where that freight and mainline trains can go to.

Keep up the good work I have been folling this from when you first started and must say you have done/doing a great job.

Hi Michael.

There's no freight yards in Motherwell, the line stops just short of Mossend. There's a few sidings and an old diesel depot, if that's what you are referring to?

Motherwell depot would have to have a fictional look, there's no building similar to the shed there and the trackwork is different. However, doesn't mean can't put some scenery in.

I've decided that next weekend I'll start working back along mainline to Motherwell, then once I reach Motherwell, I'll start filling in the gaps around there, linking up with likes of Shieldmuir & Airbles (2 stations I've done) and then the line towards Mossend, past the depot. This should keep busy for quite a while!

Hi Niall,

Shows how old I am I always thought there was a yard at Motherwell and Depot/Shed,not knowing the West Side of Scotland very well I didn't realize Mossend was that far out of Glasgow.

The Last time I was at Glasgow the train arrived St Ennox, and Princess St station was still open at Edinburgh.

There is a small yard at Motherwell on the down side but it is only one siding on the route. There is also Findleys siding opposite the shed.

Unfortunately most of the yards and sidings have not been modelled correctly on the route. As much my fault as Davids as I offered to help but got got extremely ill instead.

These things happen, Ian. Health is more important.

I noticed the track differences when I took it on, but it doesn't faze me, I just want to do the best I can with what I'm working with and it's thanks to David doing this in the first place that I re-kindled a long lost enthusiasm for Scottish railways.

What's the status of the mainline from glasgow to Carlisle on this route?
It will be a great blast once it's released. how about giving us the mainline and then the branches in batches as patches?

Nice idea but involves more work that I haven't got time for. The mainline will be the last bit attempted, though I'm currently working on a bit of the mainline in Motherwell area that links onto one of the branches.

Motherwell area is proving very tricky at the moment, so I've taken a break from there for a while and moved further along the line towards Glasgow.

Recently I re-did Bridgeton and Dalmarnock and I've decided to have a crack at the moment trying to link them up to Uddingston. So this weekend (as I was unable to get to work -- so not paid, curse self employment!) I started on Rutherglen, of which there are pics in the screenshot forum. My plan for the next few weeks (as it's a big area) is to scenerise around the new and old stations and work back to Dalmarnock. After that I'll either have another crack at Motherwell or I'll start working along the line towards Cambuslang and Newton.

Keep up the good work Niall, I'm looking forward to this route and although a different era to the SCP I am working on, there will be quite a few Scottish routes to choose from.

Talking of Scottish Routes and the "Give us your old stuff" thread, it would have been interesting to see what would've become of the Glasgow North Electrics route, is that the same sort of area as the ScR part of GCV3?

There's a little crossover in places. As the name suggests, North Glasgow deals with lines on the north side of the river, the commuter lines on GCV3 tend to be on the south side.

Thankyou, I'm trying my best and grateful for the help I've been getting along the way. Finished or not, it will have to go up sometime during the summer as from next Autumn I won't be able to commit the time to MSTS anyway due to a work project I'll be involved in.
