I have been having the usual freezing problems with the Swansea-Carmarthen route.
So tonight I decided to experiment a little.
Normally I run in 640x480 and with sound and graphics max'd out.
So I INCREASED res to 1024x768 and REDUCED sound to 50% and REDUCED graphics by a couple of notches on all sliders.
Ran the route and IT WORKED - NO PROBS.
Then I INCREASED the graphics back up to max on all sliders etc, and when I ran the route, I got a little jerkyness at the places it used to freeze up, but otherwise all OK.
Then I upped my sound to max (and with res still on 1024x768 and with graphics full-on) I re-ran the route.
Guess what? Just a little jerky still but otherwise perfectly OK.
Now I'm not going to stick my neck out and say that's the definitive cure, but sure is interesting, doncha think?
BTW, I have Xtracks v3.3 installed.
Have now driven all the way with no problems - getting good frame rates too - typical is middle to high 20's with plenty in the 30's and with a max that I noticed of 39. Lows about 13-14 where the jerkyness creeps in.
