Atomic Systems

Does anyone know where I might find some decent grass terrtex images? I had a terrain pack from that vegetation site the closed down (sorry can't remember the name ) but I can't remember where they're available from nowadays. Or is there an alternative method for getting realistic textures (preferably free, don't want to buy Mosaic or something like that just for one small task)?

You mean the Terrain Pack from the Czech site? Not sure where they went in the end. I've got the whole set backed up somewhere I believe although I guess you can't really use them if you can't contact the creator for permissions.

It's not actually that hard to create your own if you've got a basic grasp of Corel or PSP. Can [Prnt Scrn] Google Earth/Maps to get a good tone for your terrain.ace to be based on, doctor it into 512x512. Having done that, it's a good idea to cut it into four 256x256 squares which you then rotate through 180 degrees so that the tile boundaries will be seemless. After that, you just have to tinker with the cross that'll've formed in the middle of the texture until that's seemless too.

Snow, mud, sand and concrete/gravel are quite easy to replicate just with taking a base colour, adding noise to it then blurring it again to varying amounts, depending on how you want each to look.

I think Otto closed down his downloads because he was exceeding his bandwidth allocation - too many RS routes. On Trainsim.com he asked people wanting stuff to email him.
